The Gstaad Palace opened its doors in 1913 and has beenrun by three generations of the Scherz family. It hassurvived turbulent times of the First and Second WorldWars, as well as the Wall Street Crash of 1929.

The Executive Chef at Gstaad Palace, Franz W. Faeh, is agastronomic talent who has been closely associated withthe Palace for decades. Raised in Gstaad, Faeh completedhis apprenticeship at the Palace itself before heading toAsia to develop his signature flair and where he regularlycooked for the Thai Royal Family. He has since felt the pullof his homeland and has brought his cuisine’s lightnessand subtlety to develop a modern interpretation of Palaceclassics that remain true to the spirit of this institutionwhilst keeping dishes innovative for loyal guests andnewcomers alike.

Specially created for the Gstaad Palace Spa, the Hammamritual offers seven harmonious stages over 130 sq.m andhas been designed for couples or individual use.

To enhance a mountain feeling to the spa, an impressive60 metre long granite wall using 50 tons of rock from theBlausee region was cut and painstakingly constructed.

One of Switzerland’s major sporting events, the SwissOpen Gstaad, first took place at the tennis courts of GstaadPalace in 1968.

Between June and September, Gstaad hosts an unrivalledselection of world class events and activities, including theMenuhin Music Festival, the Hublot Polo Gold Cup, theBeach Volleyball World Tour and the Palace’s own TennisWeeks.

Gstaad Palace’s refurbished Walig Hut, built in 1786 andorignally used by farmers when bringing their cows topasture, is nestled 5000 ft high within the Swiss Alps,accessed by hiking or horse drawn carriage. Itaccommodates up to 80 for lunch, 14 for dinner and 2adults and 2 children for an overnight stay.
