Ahead of the European Union (EU) Green Paper on Mobile Health, * speakers at a stakeholder meeting in London have stressed the importance of engaging doctors to encourage the use of healthcare apps, reports PharmaTimes. Although app technology has the potential to make healthcare more patient-centred, it appears that healthcare professionals are poorly informed and lag behind patients and the public when embracing these products. And experts believe that patients are more likely to use health apps if they are prescribed by doctors. The speakers said that current regulations for the use of health apps are inadequate, and that clarification on their prescription is needed.
