The Town of Huntersville received a grant from GameTime through Cunningham Recreation in the amount of $47,800. The playground at Holbrook Park is one of our most heavily used playgrounds. The removal of the old play- ground was completed late July and the installation of the new one began on July 27th. The installation was done as a com- munity build project with the Huntersville Presbyterian Church and was completed early/mid August. Stop by and play! The HPRD received two USTA grants for the resurfacing of the Holbrook Park Tennis Complex. As a part of this resurfacing project permanent quick start lines were added to help keep up with the growth of youth tennis that has occurred at the town’s first quick start tennis complex that opened at the North Meck Park in March of 2011. The town was fortunate enough to not only receive the $16,000 from the USTA National Office, but also received another $7,000 from the USTA North Carolina section through the Raise the Net Grant Program. The Department previously received a $40,000 grant from USTA for the development of the courts at North Meck Park. The Holbrook Park Tennis Complex was reopened on June 14, 2013 just in time for the 2013 USTA 18+ Adult State Championships that were hosted at both Holbrook Park and North Meck Park for the first time through the Lake Norman Tennis Association.

HPRD Youth and Seniors Activity Scholarship Application Policy

It is the policy of the Town of HPRD to provide recreational opportunities to all the residents of Huntersville. Some programs require the payment of a fee to cover the

expenses incurred by offering the program. Realizing the need to include all residents in

these opportunities, the Town of Huntersville will offer financial assistance to youth and

seniors of Huntersville meeting the guidelines. Please contact the HPRD offices for more information on program assistance and our

scholarship application policy.

Inclusion

HPRD welcomes individuals of all abilities into its programs and activities as well as encourages individuals to participate as

independently as is possible in the activity of his/her choice.

If you are not sure what type of assistance or reasonable accommodations are appro-

priate for you in a particular program, please contact the Department Staff.

Registration Information

Register Online: www.huntersville.org

Register in person: The administrative offices are open between 8 am - 5 pm. The program fee must be paid in full at time of registration.

Registration is first-come, first-served. Waitlists are taken when programs are filled and efforts are made to accommodate those

individuals. If a spot becomes available, participants on our waitlist will be notified and are encouraged to call back ASAP to reserve

the spot for them. If confirmation is not received within 24 hours, the next available

person on the waiting list may be called.

Please Register Early!Programs and Trips with insufficient

registration may be canceled one week prior to the first class meeting.

Refund Policy1. Participants may request a refund for any

program for any reason. All refund requests must come to the Administrative Office of the HPRD. No requests may be taken off-site at programs or other facilities.

2. A complete refund will be issued if a participant withdraws from a program prior to 3 business days of the start of the program or if an activity is canceled by the HPRD. **No refund will be issued after start of program**

3. Convenience fees applied to online registrations are paid to the company hosting our site and are non-refundable.

The HPRD and Clay Allen are partnering up once again to bring you the North Mecklenburg

Tennis Academy. This academy offers tennis instructions to players of all ages and skill levels.

The philosophy of the academy is to teach the core fundamentals essential for the

development of players so they may maximize their potential while learning the values of fair

play, sportsmanship, respect and character development. Participants may register for as many

Stewards of the Game isa faith-driven youth

sports program aimed at“teaching life lessons through sports”. We

offer baseball, softball, and basketball programs, bothrecreational and challenge-level, for 5-16 year-old boys

The Lake NormanGiants participates

in Pop Warner Football. Pop Warner is

the largest and mostrecognized youth football league in America. The Lake Norman

Giants are the 2nd largest Pop Warner organization in North Carolina with more than 400 players and cheerleaders each sea-

son. There are approximately 20 Pop Warner related organizationsin the greater Charlotte area making up the Pop Warner Little

Panthers organization. The governing body for all these associa-tions is the Mecklenburg Optimist Club.

The Lake Norman Giants offers tackle football at five distinct levels of play. The age and weight matrix is designed to maximize

safety while allowing similar size and age kids to compete in tackle football. The Giants have won many conference titles and several

national member of the AmericanYouth Football Organization.

As an independent association we are striving to be the premier youth

football program in the Huntersville-Lake Norman area for kidsbetween the ages of 6 and 13 years old. Our program will be family centric as the coaches, parents and players will all be

encouraging forces in our program.

Our program will build character development through thedisciplines found in football, which include respect for coaches,

teammates and our opponents. In addition, the values of honesty, commitment, work ethic, sportsmanship, pride and integrity will also be guiding principles. These values are the
