In what ways does your Media product use, develop or challenge forms and Conventions of real media products?
As part of the research and planning stage of my coursework, I analysed trailers, magazine covers and film posters that were part of the horror genre and noted the
typical conventions of horror. Then I figured out general conventions of both film posters
and magazine front covers as well as teaser trailers. This gave me a general idea of what to include in my own
products to form a real media product.

CHALLENGED
Teaser – Teasers analysed were generally 30 seconds long minimum. However my teaser trailer was shorter than 30secs. This is because I thought it would increase excitement more for the film than regular teasers as it would want you to find out more.
Poster – Film posters tend to give a outline of the plot of the film. However I didn’t convey the plot completely in my film poster which most posters do (e.g. 28 days later). The reason for this is that I wanted to hold suspense and intrigue audience yet still express the genre and I think I did this well.
MAGAZINE - Some magazine covers do show the main creature (usually the strongest) on the magazine front
cover. However I developed the idea by showing a zombie
that wasn’t a ‘main’ zombie but just a common one. I wanted to retain the suspense and not give away too
much of the film. I feel like I did this and it would pay off as more people would enjoy the film more which benefits in many ways such as they would be more likely to recommend the film to others (so more
people would see it).
