Sankt Hans 2016Oslo will be celebrating Midsummer’s Eve in style with bonfires, good food and live music along the fjord from Høvikodden in the west to Hvervenbukta in the east. The celebrations are open to all, and with the exception of the events at the Folk Museum, they are all free.

Norwegian Folk Museum: Traditional family celebration with a “children’s wedding”, games and activities, concerts, barbecues, with shops and cafés open late.Hvervenbukta: Celebration at the beach with a concert, open café, flower garlands and a bonfire.Sukkerbiten: Celebration with a boat procession, DJ Olle Abstract, a bonfire and food trucks, Sukkerbiten’s restaurant or your own picnic basket.Tjuvholmen: Outdoor concerts and bonfire at the tip of Tjuvholmen. Oslo Pride 2016, until June 26Large festival for the lesbian and gay population, with concerts, art exhibits, shows, political debates and a big festival area. Oslo Pride’s aim is to make gay culture visible and contribute to increased acceptance and respect for the gay part of the capital’s diverse population.

The big Oslo Pride Parade will pass through the streets of Oslo, and tens of thousands of people are expected to join or watch what has become one of Oslo’s largest public celebrations. The parade will start June 25 at 13:00 from Grønland, pass through the city centre and end at the festival’s hub, the Pride Park in Spikersuppa.Click here for more information.

Art Night, Astrup Fearnley Museet, June 23 at 19:00New evening concept at the Astrup Fearnley Museum with open exhibition, drinks and DJs. Nora around the World, Nasjonalbiblioteket, until September 10“A Doll’s House” by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen is one of the world’s most performed plays, and Nora Helmer is one of the most powerful female characters in world drama. So how is Nora presented in different parts of the world? Skulptur på Akershus: Laura Ford, Akershus Festning, until October 2The grounds of the venerable Akershus Fortress will turn into a sculpture park this summer, as 22 sculptures by the renowned British contemporary artist are on outdoor display. This will be the first exhibition by Laura Ford in Norway, and is suitable for the whole family.Laura Ford is known for her sculptures of animals and humans, which have a distinctive knack for touching and engaging the spectators. When Ford creates her sculptures play is an integral part of the process, and she invites her viewers to join in. There is no right or wrong way to look at the sculptures - you’re completely free to feel what you want and create your own stories about them.Laura Ford (b. 1961) has studied at Bath Academy of Art and Cooper Union School of Art, New York, under Richard Deacon, Nick Pope, Antony Gormley and Anish Kapoor.
