The Jim ‘N Nick’s Way: There are a lot of styles of Bar-B-Q. Some specific to regions, others to individuals. Ours is the 25 year old labor of love, developed by Jim and his son Nick and passed on to local owners across the country. It is a way informed by a deep respect for Southern culture. A respect we

honor by doing things with a passion for detail, honest effort and a refusal to take short cuts. In other words, the way it ought to be done. The Jim ‘N Nicks way is low and slow. Our pork shoulders steep in hickory smoke for over 14 hours and everything is made from scratch. And, yes we mean everything.

Dear Chamber Members:

We adopted a program in 2006, The Diamond Awards, and would like to encourage you to participate in the program this year. The program is designed to honor individuals and businesses of our area that uphold strong commitments to community, service, leadership, and innovation.

The 2011 Diamond Awards will be presented to: Ambassador of the Year (chosen by the Ambassadors), Citizen of the Year, New Business of the Year, and Business of the Year.

You can participate by nominating someone and/or some businesses for these prestigious awards. Please visit our Chamber website for Nomination Forms and return them along with any other required documents by the deadline date, November 18, 2011. Please fi ll free to make as many copies of the Nomination Forms as you would like to submit nominees for each category.

Citizen of the Year was created to honor that individual who has made an outstanding contribution to your community and/or to recognize a person who has gone above and

beyond what was expected of them. There are two business categories:

1) New Business of the Year (business started since January 2010) and 2) Business of the Year. The businesses you nominate must be Chamber members. You can verify this by phoning Stacy at the Chamber. Of course, businesses may nominate themselves.

The 2011 Diamond Awards will be presented at a ceremony that will be held during the Chamber Christmas Luncheon on December 1st at the Columbiana United Methodist Church (Multi- purpose room).

Nomination Forms can be found on the Chambers Website at www.southshelbychamber.com.

We look forward to receiving your nominations and to presenting these awards to well deserving people of our communities.

Yours very truly, John BrowningCahaba Valley Computer Services, Committee
