Social Interaction
Because language is used in social interaction it has important consequences in people's lives - individuals form communities of people who share similar values and ways of using language, and people learn to become members of those communities. Language is the key to social interaction, one the most effective ways to deal with more and more complex situations.

Interactional Conversation
Teaching and learning talk as interaction is perhaps the most difficult skill since interactional talk is a very complex and subtle phenomenon that takes place under the control of unspoken rules: conversations are collaborative as participants are engaged in a process of negotiation of meaning. So it matters what to say, how to say it, when to speak.

Vocabulary
No matter how well the student learns grammar, no matter how successfully the sounds of L2 are mastered, without words to express a wide range of meanings, communication in a foreign language cannot happen in any meaningful way.
