In England, executions were more fun and games to the middle-aged, Victorian and Danish people. The public executions were their form of entertainment! The main form used in the middle ages was hanging, but later new methods, such as beheading, were made public. In England, the death penalty was used on a regular basis, especially during the Tudor times, when the most basic of crimes could get your head on the block!

Many people enjoyed watching executions...

And many people liked carrying out executions!!!

There are thousands of ways to be executed, but the following are what we consider to be the worst—Enjoy!

IN TENTH PLACE - FIRING SQUAD Compared to the others , this won’t hurt at all – a nice way of dying. (YOU

ARE SHOT BY A FIRING SQUAD)

IN NINTH PLACE - THE CANNON A bit messier, but, like the firing squad, you die quickly. (YOU GET SHOT

AT WITH A CANNON)

IN EIGHTH PLACE - LETHAL INJECTION Not for those that don’t like needles. (YOU ARE INJECTED WITH A

LETHAL DOSE OF A DANGEROUS DRUG)

IN SEVENTH PLACE – BEHEADINGThis might sound gruesome, but it isn’t that bad if you compare with the ones coming up. (HEAD CHOPPED OFF). IN SIXTH PLACE – THE GAS CHAMBERQuite gruesome and die slowly. (BREATHING OF POISONOUS GASES).IN FIFTH PLACE – HANGINGThe spinal cord breaks, resulting in instant death. But it is still painful. (FLOOR BREAKS THEN YOU ARE LEFT TO HANG UNTIL YOU DIE).

IN FOURTH PLACE – ELECTROCUTIONGhastly, yes, but the executions in this list are not getting better are they? (SERIES OF ELECTRIC SHOCKS PASSED THROUGH THE BODY USUALLY FROM A CHAIR).IN THIRD PLACE – SLOW SLICING Yet another gruesome way to die. (VICTIMS DIE SLOWLY THROUGH LOTS OF INCISIONS TO THE BODY, AT VITAL ORGANS).IN SECOND PLACE – COOKINGYes – cooked humans! (VICTIMS ARE PLACED INSIDE A BRONZE BULL AND ARE THEN COOKED. THANKFULLY, THEY ARE NOT EATEN).AND IN FIRST…SAWINGThe most inhumane way to kill someone. (VICTIMS ARE HELD UPSIDE DOWN, STRIPPED OF CLOTHING, AND CUT USING A SAW FROM THE ANUS DOWNWARDS).

All religions, with the exception of Buddhism and Christianity, agree that the death penalty is permissible. In Islam, it says the death penalty may only be permissible when the family of the executionee have pardon, if wanted, although some scholars say that in the Qur'an it states, ‘To take another’s life would be like taking the lives of the whole of humanity. To save a life would be like saving the whole of humanity.’ In Buddhism though, it states that it may not be permissible to take another’s life in this way at all. In Judaism, it is strictly allowed but in Christianity it is not.

Many people believe it is wrong to have a life taken away from them by someone and they ‘only’ receive a life sentence. Others think that this ‘Eye for an eye’ business is more for people to get revenge than to do what’s morally right. We agree with the latter statement that states that a life sentence is a sufficient enough punishment for any serious crime, particularly in high-security jails.
