NOL 1 EASTERN COMES AWAY WITH WIN..February 1, 2013La Grande, Ore. – The No.1 Eastern Oregon men’s basketball team defeated Corban University in tonight’s Cascade Colligate Conference matchup, 69-54 at Quinn Coliseum. Anthony Brown led the Mountaineers (25-1, 13-1 CCC) with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Trent Roos finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds and Zach Anderson added 10 points and 4 rebounds. Corban (8-14, 4-9 CCC) was led by Marcus Butler with 12 points and 2 rebounds, while teammate Dustin Moore finished with 12 points and 3 assists. The Mountaineers jumped out to an 8-2 lead early on. Midway through the half Eastern would extend their lead to nine, their largest lead of the half, with twelve minutes left to play after a long two-pointer by Michael Crane. Corban stuck around as they cut the lead to as little as five with under four minutes to play. EOU would take a 35-27 lead into the locker room.

In an evenly matched first half, Eastern shot 13-of-32 (40%) from the field and 4-of-13 (30%) from behind the arc. Corban shot 10-of-25 (40%) from the field and went 0-of-3 (0%) from the three point line. To start the second half the Warriors closed the gap to just three points as Moore knocked down a pair from the charity stripe. The Mountaineers then went on a run to take their largest lead of the game, 48-38, with 13:21 left to play. A three pointer by Brown followed by a blocked shot and dunk by Johanson with three min-utes left to play put the Mountaineers up 64-50. Both teams would then clear their benches with just over a minute to play as the Mountaineers would go on to win their eleventh game in a row. Eastern finished shooting 27-of-56 (48%) from the field and 10-of-23 (43%) from behind the arc. Corban shot 20-of-55 (36%) from the field and 4-of-16 (25%) from the three-point line.
