Campus Tours:
APPLY EARLY!!!
Top reasons to apply early:
• Spots fill in some programs
• Early admission offers based on grade 11 marks
• Can apply for scholarships and awards by deadline
• Earlier registration time slots
• Peace of mind
Post-Secondary Application
Process: Within Alberta: Apply Alberta is our province’s central application
system, giving schools access to your official transcripts.
• Create an account and complete your profile
• Under Bowness High School choose “Add Courses” and input all
of your grade 11 and grade 12 classes that you have completed, are
in process, or plan to complete and self-report your marks.
• Choose an institution and apply to your first AND second choice
programs.
• Input all grade 12 courses again if they ask!!! Institutions may use
these marks when considering your admission and they will request
your official transcripts at a later date.
• Apply Alberta is free, but each institution charges their own fees.
Apply Alberta:
Applying outside of Alberta:
• Go to the school’s website for application instructions. Different schools have different application procedures and deadlines. If you are not sure about these procedures and deadlines see your counsellor.
• You will need to request an official transcript from Alberta Education through your myPass account. https://public.education.alberta.ca/PASI/myPass
• Ontario Institutions: Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC). See www.ouac.on.ca for more information. BC Institutions:
• British Columbia Institutions: Post-Secondary Application Service (PASBC). See https://applybc.ca/ for more information. Each institution will link to the application website.
SATs and PSATs:
American Institutions: you will likely have to
complete the SAT exam or the ACT exam
and have your transcript evaluated by a
private company. Contact the specific
institution for more information.
If you are interested in writing the PSAT,
please contact your counsellor for more
information.
Requesting Official
Transcripts (applying outside
of Alberta):• Official transcripts must be requested from
Alberta Education on-line. There is a $10.00 fee
for each transcript. Be sure to indicate that you
want it sent after second semester.
• Many out of province schools will also require
an interim transcript midyear from your school.
Please see your counsellor to have this sent as
it will have to stamped and sealed.
Admission:
• Once you have applied, most schools will give you an ID and login information to their student site.
• It is your responsibility to login to the institution’s student centre and check your status and/or “to do” list. This is their means of communicating your application status as well as deadlines , requests for further information, fees or course registration.
• You may also apply for student financial awards and scholarships offered by that institution. You will not have access to these applications until you have applied to the institution and been given a student identification number to log in with.
