BROWN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL(BIS) is based on Christian val-

ues and in pursuit of a well-rounded education. As a private ed-

ucational school, BIS has its purpose of nurturing the students as

“Global Leaders.” In order to accomplish its purpose, BIS is

providing affirmative answers and positive solutions for the

question, “How should I study English?” In addition, BIS is trying its

best to be a well-equipped school like the other well known in-

ternational schools.

BIS started as an English Institute named DJKM on October 2006

and has been approved by the Department of Education of the

Philippine government as a accredited official school (DepEd

Government Recognition [R-IV-A E-003, s. 2012], Government

Permit [ R-IV-A No. 047, s. 2011]). BIS also has the Special Study

Permit from the Immigration of the Philippine government (SSP

AFFA No. MCL-2008-008) as well as other approvals that are

needed according to the law. With these approvals BIS is now able

to provide an independent English education and regular formal

school education.

BIS has the fresh environment of the Philippines, talented teachers,

systematic life and educational systems. BIS also has different kinds

of educational materials for the ESL(English as Second Language)

course that the school itself has developed. Thus, we are sure that

these things will help the students achieve their hopes and goals.

Most of all, the comfortable accommodation, delicious food, safe

living, and various kinds of fun activities will be a wonderful

memory for the students.

I am delighted to welcome all of you to BROWN INTERNATIONAL

SCHOOL(BIS). BIS is a very special place. Our inclusive ethos and

commitment to the highest standards in education have made BIS

into a premier international school.

We set very high academic standards. Students come here and

want to do their best. They study incredibly hard to achieve not

only their hopes and dreams, but also the hopes and dreams of

their families.

Life at BIS is not just about academic brilliance. The great strength

Brown International School is located in the southern part of Manila (Capital city of

the Philippines). It is a region with beautiful sceneries and rich villas. Instead renting

facilities, we bought a number of properties and built our own school buildings.

Construction of the main building was finished last May 27, 2011. At present, we have

started the construction of the planned campus extension. BIS facilities will soon

include a fitness room, math classrooms, and a language laboratory – important

educational media and essential learning environments for our students.

Additional Mandated Schedule:

Through Daily Reports, the monitoring behavior

guidelines are accomplished by the Filipino

teachers with the resident Korean teachers as

consultants and Counselors of Discipline. Study

habits and behavior patterns of students are

constantly monitored and guided.

Values Education (Daily Report System)

It is held simultaneously with written level test,

students; with their personally prepared speech of

diverse topics deliver their oral presentation in

Conducted by Filipino teachers (TOEFL classes) and

Korean teachers (Math classes).

Supplementary class

Teachers and mentors are given additional train-

ing schedule for more efficient teaching strategies

and evaluation. Motivational incentives are given

to excellent participants.

Teacher Training Program

The Level Test (written) is composed of Vocabu-

lary, Grammar, Reading, Writing & Composition

and Listening, held monthly for students in pre-

school to level 6 and every 2 months for students

in levels 7 to 9. Level promotion is gained if the

required score is achieved.

Assessment Tests (Level Test)

Foreign teachers from America, Canada, Ghana, and India,

conduct TOEFL and additional conversation classes to

help students learn more from a variety of cultures and

global issues.

schedule to secure the inside and outside of

one room system. Each room boasts of

choice furniture made of local wood.

Six to eight students are assigned to sit

together one table. Socializing is an inte-

gral part of every meal. We take pride in

our menu that considers both nutrition

and taste. Fresh fruits, salads and other side

the monitoring of every student’s con-

sumption of a balance diet.
