7 blade to 6 blade brings symmetric design results in ease in maintability. Fan seal disc installed to mitigate the air recirculation at the centre. By providing a seal disc the negative flow is avoided & we experienced a current saving of

around 6 Amps. With reduction in blade the flow decreased at results in drop in efficiency of CT fan. Blade angle increased to 10 degree from 9 degree to maintain the L/G ratio in

permissible range.

• Why innovative: 7 blade design modified to 6 blade and change in blade angle done by in house technical and performance assessment.• Energy Savings achieved: 35 KWh per CT fan ( For 36 CT fans = 1260 Kwh per hour )• Financial saving achieved: 3.3 Crore ( Considering power sale price 3 Rs/KWH)• Other saving achieved: Ease in maintenance , Reduced vibration , Lower down time.• Investment : 70 Lacs• Replicability : Yes

7.INNOVATIVE PROJECTS 7.1 CT fan energy consumption reduction by changing 7 blade to 6 blade without affecting the Cooling tower performance.

30% of DM water consumption was lost in SWAS sampling drain Due to high conductivity (10 micro Siemens/cm ) water cant be used

in CST as CST feeds stator cooler make up. By Connecting to Condenser there exists a potential threat of air

ingression. SCAPH system is not used in normal operation in Indian

atmospheric condition. Drum sampling excluded from recovery due to phosphate. The chemical parameter is well matched with feed water

chemical parameterScheme: The waste water is pumped to SCAPH tank . From SCAPH tank DMwater is pumped back to De-aerator

• Why innovative: DM waste water injection into steam water cycle with a threat free solution.• Energy Savings achieved: 1.61 Lakh KWh and reduction of heat loss.• Financial saving achieved: 4.81 Lakh ( Considering power sale price 3 Rs/KWH)• Other benefits: Reduced DM water consumption• Investment : 1 Lacs• Replicability : Yes

• Why innovative: High pressure system injected into 60% lower pressure system.whithout investment in piping and valve.• Energy Savings achieved: 6.8 Lakh KWh and reduction of heat loss.• Financial saving achieved: 20 Lakh. (Considering power sale price 3 Rs/KWH)• Other benefit: Improved reliability in ignition support for mills and start up time reduction.• Investment : 34 Lacs• Replicability : Yes ,depending on working pressure margin.

Problem in HFO Scheme:

HFO system was not reliable

Consumption of electrical energy for circulation and cooling.

Consumption of heating nearly 2 TPH of steam was used.

Projects details

HFO system was a low pressure system of 1.5 Mpa and

LDO system was high pressure operation of 4 Mpa.

It was a challenge for regulation of pressure and technical

threat for using high pressure in low pressure system.

With technical assessment and IBR calculation the treat is

eliminated by the in house team and modification executed without replacing the pipe line and control station.

7.INNOVATIVE PROJECTS 7.3. Existing HFO ignition support system converted to LDO scheme.

Best Practices for Emission control

• Low NOx Burner and Over fire damper operation.• Periodic checking of SADC for combustion control.• Improvement in Fineness of coal particle• Periodic replacement of Bag filters to control PM.• Oxygen optimization for NOx control.• Periodic monitoring of stack parameters.• Daily ESP field healthiness.• Online CEMS/ CEQMS is installed and data transmission to SPCB and CPCB• Daily review of emission by EHS team

FGD installation is process and it will be commissioned by DEC-2021 as per CPCB

direction .
