AmongstthesearethecorrectserialforNZ4512‘SlipperySam’(longthoughttohavebeenNZ4511untilrecentresearchbyDaveHomewoodbroughtthetrueserialtolight)andtheuseofthedarkerbluecolourusedfortheroundelsofoperationalRNZAFaircraftinthePacific.Anaddedbonusonthesetwosheets,isthreevariationsofthenoseartforthisaircraft,oneinredwithawhiteoutline,oneinplainyellow,andoneinYellowwithawhiteoutline.Thejuryisstilloutonthese,buttherecertainlydoesappeartobevariationsofthecolourusedinavailablephotosofthisaircraft.Itisuptothemodellertochoosebetweenthese!

Thisisthenewtool1/72MitsubishiA6M2bZerobuiltstraightoutoftheboxfromtherecentlyreleasedAirfixkit.Itallfitstogetherverynicelyandapartfromthefaffingaboutmaskingthecanopyitcanbefinishedinamatterofdaysaswasthecasewiththisparticularbuildcompletedoverthecourseof6eveningsandsometimeonaweekend.AirfixModelWorldApril2012Issue17featuresacomprehensivestep-by-stepbuildarticleandwasahandyreference.IusedtheTamiyaXF70DarkGreenandTamiyaXF12JNGreypaintswhichlookjustrightandIexpectwereproducedbyTamiyatocoincidewiththeir1/32UberZero.ThekitdecalswerebyCartographandarejustgreat.IpickedthekitsetupfromStokersModelsforjust$12.50less10%uponpresentationofmyIPMSAucklandMembershipcard.I’vebeenveryimpressedbyallthesenewtoolseries1kitsfromAirfixandIrecommendknockingonetogetherifyou’vebeenwantingtogetafewkitsunderyourbeltfor2013.
