OUR LADY OF LORETTO, CHRISTMAS OUTREACH 2019
The Our Lady of Loretto, Christmas Outreach 2019 is underway! Again this year we have committed to help families in need celebrate the birth of Christ. It’s easy to be part of this compassionate outreach. Our Giving Trees are up in all the entrances to the Church. Please take an enve-lope and return it to the secure mail slot at the Rectory, along with your gift of store gift cards, cash or check payable to Our Lady of Loretto Christmas Outreach. Please indicate the amount of your donation clearly on the outside of the gift card. Gift cards from grocery stores and stores such as Target, Kohl’s and Old Navy are much appreciated.
Our deadline for donations is Monday December 9, 2019. For your convenience, volunteers will be at the church entrances after each Mass this weekend to accept your donations. Thank you for helping us to share the true spirit of Christmas with those in need. We wish you a blessed Advent and Christmas.

Dear Friends, It’s been awhile since I last wrote you a Pastor’s Letter, so on this Thanksgiving Weekend, I would like to thank those people who make OLL such a special place:
1. Thank you, Patrick, Erin, Allen and Margarita the rectory staff. You are truly the best. You make my job a whole lot easier.
2. Thank you, Amy, Annie, Kathleen, and all the Religious Ed Teachers for all the good work you do in educating our kids in the ways of the faith. Good job!
3. Thank you, Kathleen, Jennifer, Faculty, and Staff at OLL School for the great job you are doing educating our young people. You not only teach the faith; you model the faith for our young people.
4. Thank you, Altar Society, CDA, ICF, K of C, and SVDP, for all you do for OLL. Your dif-ferent groups put the Gospel Message into action.
5. Thank you, Rich, Lou Elsa, and the members of our choir. Each Sunday and Holy Day you fill our Church with beautiful music.
6. Last but not least, thank you, dear parishioners, for not only coming to OLL, but supporting the parish. It has been said that you can tell how good a church is by the goodness of her people. You are a good people, you are a kind people, you are a most generous people. I thank God each day for putting me in a parish like OLL.

The next meeting of the OLL Book Club will take place on Thursday December 5 at 10am in the Con-vent Chapel where we will meet to discuss William J. Bennett's book The True St. Nicholas: Why He Mat-ters to Christmas. Discussion questions to consider are as follows:
1. How did Saint Nicholas come to be an every-saint for all people and all causes?
2. Explain the special reverence the Russian peo-ple have for Saint Nicholas and how this came to be.
3. How does St. Nicholas come to be viewed as the patron saint of children?
4. What was Martin Luther’s effect on the devotion to Saint Nicholas?
5. St. Nicholas evolved into different figures region-ally (ie Perre Noel in France or La Befana in Italy, etc.) Did you grow up with a similar cultural tradi-tion?
6. Who are John Pintard (aka Diedrich Knicker-bocker), Clement Clark Moore, & Thomas Nast and how did they contribute to the American per-ception of Saint Nick? How does Santa Claus come to claim the leading role in America’s com-mercial Christmas pageant?
7. What’s the legacy of St. Nicholas and what does he offer us today?
ADULT FAITH FORMATION SCHEDULE FOR OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE Dec. 3-11 7pm in Church, Rosary Novena for Our Lady of Guada-lupe. After each novena coffee and refreshments will be served. Each novena will be facilitated by a different His-panic ministry of the parish. Please note: There will be a slight change on Tuesday, Dec. 10. The Rosary novena will start at 6:30pm as there will be a 7pm Spanish Mass in honor of Our Lady of Loretto. December 11, Wednesday: 7pm Rosary led by Jovenes para Cristo 7:45pm Praise and worship by Pastoral Familiar and Nuevos Comienzos 8:30pm Praise and worship by Grupo de Oracion 9:15pm The choirs sing songs of praise to the Virgin of Tepeyac 10:30pm Preparation for the celebration of the Eucharist 11pm Mass with Mariachi music 12am Mananitas to Our Lady of Guadalupe led by the Mariachis, coffee and refreshments after Dec. 12, Thursday 5:30pm Procession from Novato police station to Our Lady of Loretto Church 6:30pm Presentation of the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe by JPC 7pm : Mass After Mass—tamales and hot chocolate in the Parish Center, all are invited.
A FEW NOTES FROM THE SCHOOL OLL Alumni Cards - OLL School is requesting that any alumni student and parent complete an OLL Alumni Card, which you will find in the vestibules. Once you have completed them please place them in one of the Alumni Boxes located in the vestibules. OLL is accepting applications for grades TK-7th for the 2020-2021 school year. Please contact the school at 415-892-8621 to attend one of our New Family Information Sessions. You can also find in-formation about our New Family Sessions on the OLL School Table. OLL School's Adopt a Student Program has emailed out their brochure and giving envelope. Our Adopt a Student donations go directly back to those fami-lies who are committed to Catholic education but are financially struggling. Any amount is greatly appre-ciated
RCIA NEWS Our Lady of Loretto’s RCIA program for 2019 – 2020 is under-way. The group meets upstairs in the convent building at 7:30 pm. The topic on Wednesday, December 4 is “Christ: His In-carnation and Nativity”. Adults of the parish are welcome to participate.

A NOTE FROM PROJECT DRESSER: Thank you to all of you who have so generously participated in this initiative! Our first gift has been delivered - what a joy it was to pass on your generosity to our mother expecting her first baby! Our second baby, a girl, is due very soon. Please watch the dresser for a sign-up sheet which will list any outstanding items still needed to round out this gift. Your donations are so greatly appreciated! We have discovered that the *necessities* (q-tips, nail clippers, baby wash, wash cloths) are not coming in as quickly as the items that are a little more fun to shop for! We are also on the hunt for our next dresser, as our baby girl will be receiving the one currently in the church. Give us a call if you have any leads! DEADLINE FOR DONATIONS IS DECEMBER 2.

Otra vez este año nos hemos comprometido a ayudar a las familias necesitadas a celebrar el nacimiento de Cristo. Es fácil ser parte de este acercamiento compasivo. Nuestros Árboles Donantes están en todas las entradas a la Iglesia. Por favor, tome un sobre y devuélvalo a la ranura de correo seguro en la Rectoría, junto con su regalo de las tarjetas de regalo de las tienda, en efectivo o cheque a nombre de Nuestra Señora de Loretto Christmas Outreach. Por favor indique la cantidad de su donación claramente en el exterior de la tarjeta de regalo. Las tarjetas de regalo de tiendas de comestibles y tiendas como Target, Kohl's y Old Navy son muy apreciadas.

Queridos amigos, Ha pasado un tiempo desde la última vez que te escribí una carta para el pastor, así que en este fin de semana de Acción de Gracias, yo Quisiera agradecer a las personas que hacen de OLL un lugar tan especial:
1. Gracias, Patrick, Erin, Allen y Margarita, el personal de la rectoría. Eres realmente el mejor. Haces mi trabajo mucho más fácil. 2. Gracias, Amy, Annie, Kathleen y todos los maestros de educación religiosa por todo lo bueno. trabajo que haces educando a nuestros hijos en los caminos de la fe. ¡Buen trabajo! 3. Gracias, Kathleen, Jennifer, la facultad y el personal de la escuela OLL por el gran trabajo que eres. haciendo educar a nuestros jóvenes. No solo enseñas la fe; modelas la fe para nuestros jóvenes 4. Gracias, Altar Society, CDA, ICF, K of C y SVDP, por todo lo que hace por OLL. Tu diferentes grupos ponen el Mensaje del Evangelio en acción. 5. Gracias, Rich, Lou Elsa y los miembros de nuestro coro. Cada domingo y día santo llenas nuestra Iglesia con hermosa música. 6. Por último, pero no menos importante, gracias, queridos feligreses, por no solo venir a OLL, sino apoyando a la parroquia. Se ha dicho que puedes decir cuán buena es una iglesia por el bondad de su gente. Eres una buena gente, eres una gente amable, eres la mayoría gente generosa Agradezco a Dios cada día por ponerme en una parroquia como OLL. ¡Feliz fin de semana de acción de gracias! ¡Feliz primer domingo de Adviento!
