Location: GP Practices across Angus
Salary: £16,752 - £17,343 per annum (pro rata)
Working hours: Fixed term post up to March 2020 Part time, 18.13 hours per week
Special conditions: Flexibility to work additional hours as and when required

Job Summary
Angus Peer Link Service is a new and innovative service for people who are concerned about their mental health. Available to people aged 16 and over who live in Angus, the service provides time-limited support for people who may be feeling overwhelmed or experiencing distress. Utilising the expertise and insight gained from successfully managing a personal lived experience of mental health challenges, Peer Workers are uniquely placed to work alongside people to inspire hope in recovery. Working within GP Practices across Angus, the Peer Worker role will involve appropriate signposting, short term support planning and delivering group self management workshops. Awareness raising within the local community and networking with GPs and health professionals will also be required. Responsibilities
To develop relationships with people based on the principals of Peer support, which include mutuality, empathy and a focus on strengths which inspires hope
To establish a supportive relationship with each supported person, enabling them to maximise their own resources in order to improve their quality of life.
To share ideas about ways of achieving Recovery goals, drawing on personal experiences and a range of coping, self help and self-management techniques
To assist people to create their own outcomes focused recovery plans
To model personal responsibility, self awareness, self belief, self advocacy and hopefulness
To signpost to various resources, opportunities and activities within communities to promote choice and informed decision making
Co-facilitate groups/courses Maintain a working knowledge of current trends in mental health, recovery and
peer support by reading books, journals and accessing peer support networks
To work in cooperation with other members of the Recovery Team, and staff from other agencies.
To be responsible for maintaining the relevant systems of paper-based and electronic documentation.

Person Specification Qualifications

Good level of educational attainment

SVQ3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent as defined by the SSSC
Completion of Peer Support Worker Training (e.g. Meta Services Peer Employment Training or other similar peer support training)
