DECO The trend for all things deco continues into A/W ‘12 with the likes of Aquilano Rimondi, Miu Miu and Holly Fulton in particular all showcasing an array of deco inspired prints in their latest collections. Score extra points for wearing the print head to toe, or if you’re really brave, clashing them.

BAROQUERich, opulent fabrics were adorned with intricate gold detailing, adding a decadence to the A/W ‘12 catwalks. Championed by Dolce & Gabanna, whose latest collection was inspired by Sicilian baroque and renaissance paintings, this is a look where more is most definitely more.
LEATHERLuxurious, practical and of course stylish, leather is
back for A/W ‘12, but it’s now got a whole lot more feminine. Forget bikers (unless quilted) and
think short shorts, leggings and girly dresses but all in leather. And when it comes to col-
our, there really are no limits, although darker hues weren’t in short supply.

FURThought fur was big last autumn/winter? Think again. This season, fur has gotten bigger, better and a whole lot crazier. It’s time to experiment and that doesn’t just mean trying different colours and textures. The variations and possible combinations are simply endless.
ORIENTALAsia’s influence on fashion is becoming huge and so it’s comes as no surprise that one of the biggest trends from the A/W ‘12 catwalks was for opulent, orien-
tal garments. These ornate deigns accentuated the waist to create an ultra feminine shape and were
detailed with striking, colourful and in-tricate designs, often from head to toe.

MONOCHROME PRINTIn an A/W season where colour is in a more ready supply than normal, there was also a steady flow of monochrome printed pieces that made just as much of a statement Favoured by Kenzo and Rodarte in particular, these prints experimented with contrasting stripes, pattern clashes and varying shades of grey in order to provide more visually impacting designs despite the absence of colour.
PEPLUMFeatured in a host of A/W ‘12 shows from David Koma to Alexander Mc-Queen, the peplum is the perfect way to highlight and accentuate the waist,. Creating this seasons coveted hour-
glass figure couldn’t be easier and peplums are both a chic and
versatile approach to achiev-ing those desired curves (or hiding them). That’s the
beauty of a peplum!

PURPLEPurple looks set to be one of the season’s hot-test hues, with a strong presence on the A/W ‘12 catwalks. Shades var-ied greatly, however it is a rich, darker purple, favoured by the likes of Alberta Ferretti that domi-nated. If you really want to embrace this trend then try wearing purple from head to toe. W

POWDER BLUECarrying a fresh, youthful and springtime feel into A/W ‘12, powder blue is a refresh-ing change from the usual sombre shades that tend to dominate the winter season and this playful hue looks set to be the hue of choice this coming season. Sheer or heavily embellished, this shade was predominantly chosen for garments with an ultra feminine shape, focusing on nipping in the waist and oozing girlish glamour. Wor

EYEBROWSWhen it comes to makeup there was a clear focus for A/W ‘12 - eyebrows. At Chanel, eyebrows were adorned with jewells and beads for a striking modern statement that had the fashion world gasping. At Miu Miu, eyebrows were also decorated with large circular mirrored beads, but were also contoured with dramatic powder blue and white eye shadow.
