The U.S. produces a world-leading 250 million tons of trash a year (4.4 pounds of trash per per-son per day) according to the EPA. That is why we at GM are focused on reducing our waste inten-sity footprint. Through segregation across GM we are able to divert over 80% of waste. All actions big and small can help move GM closer to over 90% zero waste by 2025.What is waste at GM?Anything not going on a GM product and being sent off-site for disposal. What happens to GM waste? All GM waste is evaluated for regulatory criteria to ensure compliance and then sent off-site to spe-cific waste facilities. How do waste containers play a role?Every waste material has a defined disposal route to ensure each waste material is in the right con-tainer for safe disposal. Contact your Environmental Engineer if you no-tice waste that is out of place.

Snow Shoveling Safety

Avoid

• Always use proper posture:

• Push the snow rather than lifting whenever possible.

• When lifting is needed, use the legs not the back.

• Keep a wide stance, with a bend in both knees.

• Tip forward on the hips keeping back straight.

• Keep the shovel close.

• Use a shovel that is the appropriate size/length for your height.

• Keep up with the storm rather than waiting until it’s over to shovel everything.

• Hydrate! Cold and physical exertion can lead to dehydration.

• Take breaks every 30-45 minutes to stretch.

Do
