Key features of the proposed design:• proposed new two-lane viaduct on the eastern side of Hinkler Av-
enue connecting from the roundabout at Bundaberg North State School to the existing Tallon Bridge
• proposed new pedestrian and cycle facilities across the existing Tallon Bridge
• provide a continuous raised route between the CBD and Bund-aberg North
• existing intersections at Thornhill Street and Hinkler Avenue Ser-vice Road east are maintained for the lower level road.
Benefits of the proposed design:• increased evacuation time to the south for Bundaberg North,
Gooburrum and surrounding areas
• improved access into Bundaberg North and the greater area after a flood event
• improved connection between Bundaberg North and Bundaberg CBD during flood events for community and emergency services
• new pedestrian/cycleway will provide an active travel connection between the CBD and Bundaberg North and, additional capacity during and after flood events
• minimised impact to Tallon Bridge and old Burnett Traffic Bridge during construction
• minimised impact to the flow of flood water during a flood event.
