EAST JORDAN TheEast Jordan Red Devils willsuit up only 17 footballplayers when they take thefield for the first snap thisseason, but those 17 youngmen bring with them atough work ethic and agreat attitude.

Well, we don't have a lotof kids out this season, buttheir attitude is great, its abreath of fresh air, veterancoach Allan Peterson said.I'm proud of these guysand how hard they havebeen working.

Some of the top returneesand early surprises for theRed Devils will be senior,Zack Shepard, an athleteswho has come along way

since his football daysbegan. Junior Ben Walton,is regarded and an out-standing athlete and superplayer, and Weston Swan-son a junior that came intothe preseason with someadded foot speed and hasbeen a pleasant surprise.

We have a positive out-look on the season, Peter-

son added. Were pretty op-tomistic about things andwe look to surprise a fewpeople and do well. Wewill be doing some newthings offensively this year

and look to gain confidencein the process.

Other East Jordan seniorson the roster are: JoeManville, Alex Moses, JoshJohnston, Dillon Sweet and

Jack Holbrook. Whileveteran returnees expeto play key roles are juNoah Bacchus and TimSchutt.

EAST JORDAN CoachAnne Crick will look to thirdyear starter and senior Va-lerie Peters to lead the LadyRed Devils on the court thisyear.

The standout three sportathlete is one of the areas tophitters and will resume herposition as strong side hitterfor East Jordan this fall. Pe-ters led the team last seasonas a junior in kills, digs and

serving.Seniors Angela Watkins,

McKenna Steltzner and Ste-vie Bartig return to the line-up, Watkins will return toher middle hitter position,Bartig will move over to thesetter position and Steltznerwill be filling the libero posi-tion for the Red Devils. Fel-low senior Allie Sutton willalso contribute.

iors; Mariah Holm, LindseyGraham and Paige Poindex-ter, along with sophomoresKristen Malpass and KatieSpence.

The girls have workedhard this summer attendingteam camp and multiplescrimmages, coach Cricksaid. We are looking for-ward to the season.

EAST JORDAN The RedDevils return two very talentedrunners in the form of juniorJosh Wojan on the boys team andsophomore sensation KaylaKeane on the girls.

We look for Josh to be one ofthe top runners in the area andhe will be hard to beat. RedDevil coach Rick Hawley said.Our girls team is doing well and

will be led by Kayla.Rounding out the boys team

are junior Donvee Burks, sopho-more Gabe Hawley and freshmanTeddy Nachazel.

Donvee and Gabe should bevery competitive for us in league,and Teddy looks good as a youngrunner. the coach added.

The girls squad is compro-mised of senior Casey Keane,

juniors, Holley Carson, Tess Mc-Nitt, Ellen Brandell and Tori

Goodrich. All four juniors arethird year runners, withGoodrich transferring fromEllsworth.

Another high note for the girlsteam is freshmen BrittanieMoses.

I see a very competetive run-ner in Brittanie, Hawley added.I believe she will be a big asset toour girls team.
