But what is the Marriage Course? The Alpha Marriage Course happens over a period of 8 weeks (once a week) set in a romantic atmosphere. You and your spouse will enjoy a great dinner at your own candlelit table while listening to practical teachings that is both informative and fun. It is never a group discussion, only discussions between you and your spouse, so no one is expected to share anything with anyone other than your spouse. There is a workbook that you use during the session and at home. The sessions are broken up as follows: Session 1 – Building Strong Foundations Session 2 – The Art of Communication Session 3 – Resolving Conflict Session 4 – The Power of Forgiveness Session 5 – The Impact of Family Session 6 – Intimacy Session 7 – Love in Action Session 8 – The Marriage Course Party The last session is an evening for potential guests to find out more about the course. Is your spouse away often for business or other reasons? There is an extra session: Coping with Times of Separation The aim of the Marriage Course if for couples to grow closer and build a healthy relationship that will last a lifetime. It gives very practical tools to help a couple invest time in their marriage, heal ways they’ve hurt each other, discover how their partner feels loved and all of this with a lovely meal served.

We live in times where people often struggle with many things. Work struggles, relational tensions and hurts from our past often limit us from being the people God has created us to be. In this next series, “When God breaks through,” the preaching team at Eastside will be teaching on some practical issues faced by many people in the church today. This Sunday, Riaan will be preaching at both services on the topic of depression. The reality is this: Christians do get depressed. Riaan will be defining depression, and offering biblical tools to deal with your own depression and to help be a support to people around us who are struggling with depression. For the next few weeks, we’ll be looking at topics like discouragement, loneliness, isolation, stress, anxiety, self-image struggles, jealousy and more. Don’t miss a service!
