Hey Folks, Wow! What a greaat time we had at Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach, FL. The weather couldn't have been more perfect! The forecast the week before looked kind of sketchy for Daytona so Randy opted not to bring his bike and we would double on my bike. We teased Randy that if he had brought his bike, it would have rained, so we were glad he didn't bring it. *:)

We arrived to Daytona early to distribute postcards for our Ladies Ride-in Bike Show at Destination Daytona's Pavilion and meet with some prospective customers and noticed how many other motorcycle enthusiasts arrived early as well. It was like Biketoberfest got extended and we loved

it. We had time to enjoy the sun and sand and take some awesome photos on the beach with our bikes that we've never had the opportunity to do before.

The Ladies Bike Show at Bruce Rossmeyer's Daytona Harley-Davidson was so much fun! We enjoyed seeing all the ladies ride their bikes into the show and polish them up for the judges; each one as unique as their rider. Plaques and prizes were awarded to beautiful smiling women who had as much fun as we did, I believe. We appreciate all our friends who drove down from Tennessee to help us out at the show. We will be hosting another Ladies Ride-in Bike Show next year so stay tuned.

We got a chance to take a ride on The Loop, a popular scenic route frequented mostly by motorcycles. The scenery was spectacular and Mother Nature put on a memorable show with all her beauty. We bought action photos from the road side photographers because they turned out awesome. Another section has been added to my memory book.

We were sad to leave the warm sunshine and head back home to Tennessee, but we will be back for the 74th Annual Bike Week 2015 for sure. Hope to see you there!

Sponsoring this event has never been a second thought to us at Southern Biker Magazine. It’s just one of those events

you really get to feel the energy and excitement of helping those children in need. Funds raised for Vanderbilt’s Children’s Hospital from this help children in need, especially those children whose parents can’t afford to pay for large expenses that sometimes come with medical needs.

We started the day at Harley-Davidson of Columbia for ride registration. The route took us to downtown Nashville in the VIP section behind Dierks and his mother, Catherine Childs, who rode on the motorcycle with Dierks. We never put our feet down the entire route thanks to 100 or so law enforcement officers and personnel to keep traffic at bay as we went though each intersection from rural roads to the bustling downtown Nashville. During the ride, people gathered at the roadside and waved with smiles on their faces. Over 1,000 riders came to participate in the event and another 10,000 attended the great concert.

This year’s event was off the hook! Dierks and his cast of entertainers put on a tremendous concert to the cheers of thousands of fans, supporters and motorcycle riders. Before Dierks jumped on stage to sing, several items were auctioned off including some Dierks Bentley autographed guitars and a couple of signed motorcycle gas tanks donated by Ricky Kelley from Harley-Davidson of Columbia. Dierks hit the stage singing his hit song “5-1-5-0 Somebody Call The PoPo” and the crowd went

nuts. After several songs Dierks signed a huge check and presented it to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in the amount of $335,479. It was nearly $30,000 more than any other year prior. The crowd erupted with cheers! Dierks was very thankful to everyone and just kept singing.

Helping charities and people, especially children in need, is the reason we got involved and continue to help sponsor this wonderful event. It’s such a privilege and honor to be associated with such a great event people and a tremendous charity. Talking with one of the organizer Deanna Kenisell from Big Hearted Babes, next year’s event will be the 10th anniversary and she’s hoping to exceed the $500k mark. Make your plans to be with us next year as we do our best to help make this goal a reality.

The Boogie Too Rally was one for the books. Amberland was jumping and the rally goers

were partying. Live music by Exit 60, Geneva, Skipper Grace and more kept the party rolling until the wee hours of the morning each night. Crystal & Harley also put on a great ventriloquist act that is always a big hit with the crowd.

Herbert & Amber Clark are committed to never disappoint rally attendees and their games, contests and MC duties keep everyone in stitches and having a great time. Several campsites even seem to muster up side shows after the main stage was shut down as many didn’t get to sleep until, well, morning.

The SBMag Road Crew came and joined in the games and festivities. They also gave away and threw out, from the stage, hundreds of dollars of free stuff all rally long! Scooter’s Biker Bar held down the regular crowd and everyone at the rally was having a good time from the main stage entertainment to vendor row to the top of the hill.

Next year get prepared as Herbert & Amber continue their tradition of top entertainment and the promise of a great time. They will have four events so make plans to attend every

one of them and tell me which one you liked best (if you can!).

It’s exciting to see that Kawasaki has introduced an adjustable motorcycle. Their new Vulcan S entry-level bike has

adjustable seats, pegs and handlebars with three settings that can accommodate riders from under 5’ 6” to over 6’ 1”. Sound familiar? The adjustability was something that we had built into our WildKaT. We just didn’t have the deep pockets of a major OEM and had to put manufacturing on a back burner. I know this may sound a bit crazy but for me ROAR has always been about being an advocate for the women’s market. Yes, it’s a business and that means making money is essential but for me it’s as important to see changes in the industry that can impact riders everywhere.

I haven’t had an opportunity to test ride the bike, but hope to do so soon. It’s only

492 pounds with a slim tank design which should make it a great bike for women, especially for that first motorcycle. After

running a dealership for six years, I always appreciated our

and gave us the least headaches than any other bike. I’m hoping it’s going to live up to its PR!

seat has a metal base and the main construction is foam polyurethane with

universal fitting arms. The seat is designed to fit scooters but should fit most motorcycles

as well. The seat is strapped to the rear seat just like a car seat, but the child

is not strapped into the seat. The rider prevents the child from going forward and the seat prevents the child from toppling to the side. The seat uses hooks that slide under the saddle. These hooks are universal since they can be adjusted to the right length. Fully adjustable feet stirrups are adaptable to your child’s height ensuring a perfect fit.

and a love of wrenching whether it’s a car, truck or bike. Friends get together with limited funds ($3,000) and a specific time frame (30 days) to build a car or bike that is able to be driven at least 300 miles in hopes of winning the iconic Ratfink Trophy. That is the ultimate honor in Rat Rodding.

This year’s destination was Lebanon, Tennessee and the event was their biggest ever. There were acres of cars, trucks and bikes you had to see to believe. Attendees came from all over the United States, Canada and a couple of guys from South Africa, too. The trophies were as unique as the cars and bikes as they were constructed from junk parts too. The weather was a bit warm but there was a variety of bands for your listening pleasure while you rested. If you have never been to a Redneck Rumble (Rat Rod festival), you will want to put it on your calendar for next year if you have a passion for the unique; I’ll be there!

Flaherty's Irish PubNow that the world cup soccer

is over you will be able to get into Flaherty's. Located on Highway 411 in Maryville, TN, this Irish Pub is one of the best around. For an appetizer you have got to try the Guinness cheddar dip. It doesn't matter what you dip, it will make it taste better. It comes with pub chips @ $6.99. The potato pancakes with chicken & bacon @ $7.99 got covered with beer cheese, too. It was awesome.

The Mayor went all out with Bangers & Mash potatoes covered with Guinness gravy @ $9.99. He wanted to lick the plate but Miss Ann said no. She tried the Shepherds Pie @ $9.99. I went for everyone's favorite, Fish & Chips @ $7.99. The fish is a superstar; the way it is prepared is better than most seafood restaurants. Leave room for a whiskey brownie big enough for two.

Easy Tuna CasseroleTuna macaroni, creamy soup, cheese and fried

onions are all you need to make this super-easy tuna casserole. It's great as leftovers,

too.

Recipe Ingredients:3 cups cooked macaroni1 (6 oz.) can tuna, drained1 (10.74 oz.) can condensed cream of chicken soup1 cup shredded cheddar cheese1 1/2 cups French fried onions

Cooking Directions:Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).In a 9x13-inch baking dish, combine the macaroni, tuna, and soup. Mix well, and then top with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 25 minutes, or until bubbly. Sprinkle with fried onions, and bake for another 5 minutes. Serve hot.

Whether you are taking a passenger or you will be the passenger, there are a few things to keep in

mind before heading out for your next ride. State laws and requirements for passengers should be followed for everyone's safety. There is some variety state to state as far as minimum age, passenger seats, footrest requirements and helmets. When looking at laws in the Southeast, for example, in Georgia although there is no minimum age for a passenger, they should be tall enough to reach the footrests and be able to hold on to the ride or hand-holds. Even though they may have the age and height required by law, you want to make sure they have the maturity level to be a good and responsible passenger in order to have a safe ride. Passengers are an extra set of eyes and ears on a bike, so they can be a safety asset, or a dangerous liability. For those states that do not require a helmet for the rider, like Florida or South Carolina, there may still be an age requirement for the passenger to go without a helmet. Take for example, South Carolina where a helmet with reflectors is required for those under age 21. It is best to check before taking off. A good place to look is the AMA website (www.AmericanMotorcyclist.com) which has a helpful state by state chart. Outside of the legal requirements, it is also important to understand how a passenger will affect your ride. If you are not accustomed to having a passenger, it can change the way that you ride. The added weight of a passenger changes the weight of the bike which can mean that your abillity to brake in a short distance can change as well as your cornering clearances. There will be someone holding on to you (which depending on your passenger, can be really, really nice) and counting on you to get them back home safe. Having an inexperienced passenger on the back of your bike can be a distraction and dangerous so it is best to have some discussions beforehand so both parties know what to expect from each other. As important as it is for a rider to know what rules to follow, it is equally important for both riders that the passenger understands as well. Being a passenger, you should know a few things about your rider before hopping on the back of the bike. Do they have a valid motorcycle license? Have they been riding long? Are they used to having a passenger? Discuss what the best way is for you to get on the bike (foot on the ground and one leg over? Use the footrest?), where your feet will be going and what you will be holding on to when you take off. If you are not using your own helmet, make sure the one that is provided to you is a good fit. It is very important to wear the proper gear such as long pants, a jacket and boots (which are good protection against the possible exhaust pipe burns) for your ride. Remember to lean with the rider on turns and keep your feet on the foot-pegs even when the bike is stopped. Unless you are wearing a headset, a helpful idea before you get going is to work out a communication system because you are probably not going to be heard at normal speeds.
