Hello, Everyone! With the warm weather we've had for the last few days, you would think spring has arrived and it's the middle of January. Meanwhile, two weeks ago we had record breaking cold temperatures. Crazy weather for sure. Some of you have taken advantage of the warm weather and got some saddle time in. The warm spell won't last too long and you have to take advantage of it while you can. That is a reminder for those of you who want to get your bike modified or services before the real riding season starts, which is just around

the corner. Get your bike ready for the big event: DAYTONA BIKE WEEK! It starts March 7 and runs through March 15. We have our hotel booked and are looking forward to a great event this year. We are very excited to announce that we will have our Southern Biker Magazine Ladies Ride-In Bike Show at Boot Hill Saloon on Main Street on Friday, March 13, in the morning. Make sure to tell your female friends who ride to come down and enter their bike in the show. If you are a remale rider and will be attending Bike Week, please make plans to attnd. It will be a great event and Karin at Boot Hill Saloon is so gracious to host this event there. This year we have a really special grand prize for the Editors Choice winner and other great prizes. See our ad in this issue for details. We are doing this event to benefit breast cancer because it continues to make a big presence among our female friends who are battling this disease with charm and dignity. We would love to see breast cancer become a thing of the past.

The Indian Motorcycle Company began in 1901. American built, the iconic motorcycle had its highlights on the street and in races. The Indian

Scout came about in the early 1920s with a serious reputation that the bike could take a beating and still get you to your destination, without any serious problems. It had many wins on the track, both dirt and asphalt. But the most famous of all accolades came with a burly old motorcycle man from Australia named Herbert James “Burt” Munro. He broke land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flat in the 1960s on his 1920 Scout. With his 1,000 cc Indian Scout, he set a world record on August 26, 1967 that still stands today. Even with its impeccable reputation, the Scout disappeared from Indian in 1949.

The Indian Motorcycle Company folded in 1953, leaving Harley-Davidson as the only American made production motorcycle with a following. Afterwards, the Indian name and history was traded like an old worn dog; owners with big ideas and little or no experience in the motorcycle industry; English, Italian, Taiwanese, and American tried to reintroduce the iconic motorcycle with no success. The brand never lost its cachet and in 2011 powersports giant Polaris bought the right to manufacture Indian motorcycles and prepared to bring the Indian back to prominence. Indian stated their manufacturing and design direction was to imagine that their new motorcycles are what they would have been if the company had not ceased operations in 1953.

Heritage, Innovation & CoolBy The Mag Man, Randy Gracy

In 2014 the company released its first creation, the Chief with three variations: Classic, Vintage and Chieftain with all sharing the newly produced Thunderstroke 111 engine. The Indian Roadmaster shortly followed. The achievement was impressive. With those motorcycles ranging from $19,000 and up, the next motorcycle Indian needed was a cruiser and priced around $10,000. Enter, the Scout…Alan Girdler’s book “The Harley and Indian Wars” is about the rivalry between the two brands back in the 40’s and 50’s. The Scout was center stage in that “war”.

Unveiled last year at Sturgis, the new Scout is a looker and comes revamped for this current motorcycle generation. With the look of its original “rigid triangle” frame, a low seat height of 25.3” and weighing only 558 lbs, it’s perfect for both men and women. The Scout’s engine is a liquid cooled (a first for any Indian) V-Twin that displaces 1,133cc/69 cubic inches, with 72.2 lb-ft of torque and 100 hp. “This is a cruiser; it feels like a cruiser. Your brain will tell you to shift at 5,000 rpm, but the redline is closer to 9,000 rpm. So, keep pushing the rpm’s up and you’re going to feel the bike come alive”, said Motorcycle Product Director Gary Gray. The cylinder jugs look like they have the 1930 Scout’s pushrod tubes and are a nice touch to keep that old look of the Indian. A six gear transmission makes the ride a smooth and enjoyable during gear transfers and higher speeds on the highway.

The Scout’s leather solo seat was a nice touch for me as my current bike has the same kind of seat. Indian is punching out optional equipment to get ahead of the aftermarket folks. Optional handlebars, foot controls and seats will make it even more suitable for both taller and shorter riders. If I owned an Indian Scout, I’d option up the bags, pillion seat and sissy bar with rack which are all quickly removable.

Riding it was a breath of fresh air.

After a test run at Daytona’s Biketoberfest at the new Daytona Beach Indian dealer and then a long haul on test ride, my first impression was, “Wow, they did a great job on this machine.” The bike sits low enough and is light enough to give you extra confidence as you get on it. The ride was simply breath taking as I did my test ride along with Chris Cooper (who was also on another Scout) through the Loop and back roads of Daytona. I derived that the smooth ride was a culmination of the low engine vibration, the excellent, smooth 6-speed transmission and the innovative suspension that sits under you. It felt as though I was gliding on air at times.

Driving through the turns and popping up out of the corners with speed and control put a smile on my face a mile wide.

This Scout is a lot of fun to ride, looks cool to ride and still keeps you in that nostalgia look, that is Indian.

Motorcycle Drag Racing Kicks Off the 2015 SeasonBy The Mag Man, Randy Gracy

Getting notification by NHRA, I awaited word by Angelle Sampey to make sure it was

true…and it is. Star Racing wanted something big to celebrate its 35th year in racing in 2015. Sampey ending her retirement qualifies as that. Along with Shirley Muldowney, Sampey is one of a very few women to have won a major motorsports championship title in the men’s divisions; Muldowney with three in Top Fuel,

and Sampey with three in Pro Stock Motorcycle. Angelle is considered the highest winning female in professional motorsports history with 41 career wins.

Three-time Champ Angelle Sampey Returns to CompetitionBy The Mag Man, Randy Gracy

And Big Congratulations to my good friend, NHRA & AHDRA Motorcycle Drag Racing Champion Doug Horne who married Jenna Carmosino a year ago… they are expecting a little one this year.

It’s time to hear the sound, deafening roar of the engines, the smell of burning Nitro and the

vision, blurring speed of motorcycles hurling down the drag way. Let the 2015 motorycle drag racing begin.

This year there are many different series holding different divisions for every class of motorcycles. New rules have been added to some and riders will have to be up to date on each series' rules which they will be participating in. Fans will have their pick which races to attend and where to get the most entertainment for their dollar. Most venues will have camping, vendors and pit access where fans can meet their favorite racer and be front and center to see the motorcycles torn down and put back together for the next race.

I love covering and taking action shots where all of the drag racing excitement is taking place…on the track! I also enjoy staying overnight at these events where you can meet new friends and do racer interviews all in the same campground.

Get your weekends off and prepare for the fastest motorcycles on the planet.

But the one mark she is still chasing in Pro Stock Motorcycle – the 45 career wins by Dave Schultz – provided a big motivating factor. “That’s the main reason why I did say yes,” Sampey said. “If I had the title of the winningest racer I don’t think I would have anything else to accomplish. I accomplished every goal I wanted to except I didn’t win those four races to tie Dave and five to beat him. I know with the way the competition is now it could take a while to get that but I can’t do it if I don’t try.” In a trial run last year, she ran a 6.90 second pass, just off her best time of 6.971. It’s obvious she will be a contender for the title this year.

Bike Maintenance is Bike Safety

Before we know

it, spring will be here. Bike Week is right around the corner. Make sure you don't wait till the

last minute to get your motorcycle "ride ready." Maintenance is critical to your safety. Check the tread on your tires and also the air in them. Make sure all of your cables are in good condition and there is no fraying or hang up. It's also important to make sure all of your lights are working properly. Oil and other fluids are a must. They need to be checked and changed. At the dealership we could always tell when people loved their motorcycles and took care of them.

It's also important that your motorcycle

starts easily and isn't missing, coughing or dying out. It's no fun pulling out of an intersection and having your bike die. Any time your motorcycle is not running the way it should, it not only affects performance, it affects your safety. Get it to a good technician and get the issue fixed. I've seen many a person put on their helmet and all their gear and ride out of the dealership on a bald tire because they didn't want to spend the money. What is your life and health worth? There are some accidents that can't be prevented but the ones we can by having a bike that is road worthy is our responsibility.

Ladies, it's important to learn the basics of bike maintenance whether you are married or have a boyfriend or you're single because it's still your life. You never know when that information will come in handy. Educate yourself and remember the next time you're putting on all of your gear that your motorcycle has to be safe, too.

For folks like me, that have stared the reaper in the face, we are often more aware and more thankful for little things, like the

calendar turning a date. Some of us think, “WOW, I almost wasn’t here today.” And some of us go a step further and think, “OH YEAH, what can I do next?”

We all know that the passion for riding a motorcycle brings with it certain inherent dangers. As motorcyclists many of us take riding classes, practice our emergency maneuvers, keep our eyes peeled and constantly scanning, but sometimes – sometimes – it’s not enough. Sometimes circumstances, happen-chance, and other people’s choices leave us scarred for life, in the worst of cases, take a life. I have always been aware of the dangers both small and large that accompany driving a motorcycle, but it was not until somebody changed my life that I fully began to understand so very many new things.

For those that are not aware, here is my short story. After losing a corporate job in 2012 and having little luck of finding another with reasonable salary, I made the insane and overwhelming awesome decision to be homeless. Well, at least that’s how I used to tell it. I sold nearly everything I owned, I ramped up my Virtual Assistant business, The Write Hand; I loaded my dog, laptop, and peripherals onto my 1995 Harley Davidson Sportster 883. I left Illinois in February 2013 to tour the United States and grow my business. The months I spent traveling on my motorcycle, sleeping in the woods or abandoned buildings, and meeting folks from all walks of life along my path, were some of the most freeing days in my entire life. Never for a single second do I regret what I did, not even as I laid in that ditch.

In July 2013 on a very hot 97 degree day with

beautiful blue skies above, I drove across the Wisconsin state line into Minnesota. It was about 2pm and I had chosen my route based on the St. Croix River; I knew that come evening it would provide me options for making camp that night and I always love camping near water. I had only been in Minnesota for a few miles. I stopped at the Welcome Sign to take a picture but realized my phone memory was full, so off I went. Well, I didn’t get far. My route was a beautiful two lane road through farm lands along the river. There were green fields, cows, silos, and winding curves – winding curves…

As I headed into a deep left curve a semi-truck approached in his lane. As always, I gently moved right a little, always giving a bit more room for a semi in case they fudge slightly. And there it was, barreling at me at a speed I learned was well over the limit – a young man in a car was trying to pass the semi-truck and was headed straight at me in MY LANE – MY FREAKIN' LANE!! I was traveling about 55 mph and the other vehicle between 70 and 80. Every time I take my memory back to that place,

one thing permeates my brain – the young man and I screamed simultaneously, “No, No, No!” He did a great deal to help and aid as I lay in that ditch and for the next half hour the end of my life was more than apparent to me and to the support personnel buzzing all around the scene. With my insides on the outside, we all knew that I was going to die and that was that. I thanked God for all that he had given me, thanked Him for letting me accomplish my dream, and asked Him to take care of my son and granddaughter. With a great deal of vigor in that half hour or so, I was eventually loaded into a helicopter bound for Regions Hospital in St. Paul. A lifetime ago, the last thing I saw was a helicopter door open and blue skies and sunshine spilling onto my face, and then I died.

Yippee for amazing surgeons and modern technology because I was not intended to stay dead. I could go on about the number of hours and surgeries, the blood content of my body being replaced three times over, all the drugs, the pain, the nightmares, the rage, the pity, and the Why Me questions.

Motorcycle riders are particularly at risk for losing legs in a crash involving another vehicle. If you think about it logically, our entire body is exposed and if another vehicle comes in contact with us it is most likely going to strike somewhere in the leg area. A vehicular crash is only one simple way to become an amputee. There are medical issues like cancer and diabetes that take limbs quite often. Work related accidents and even birth defects leave folks missing part or all of a limb or limbs.

Being a motorcyclist is not very unique these days; it seems there are motorcycles everywhere now. And being an amputee isn’t rare either. But how many amputee motorcyclists have you seen? Perhaps more than you even realize. Whether born amp’d or made amp’d, as long as your heart still beats, there is a chance at living a dream, loving a passion, and doing more than you ever thought possible.

I can tell you one cliché that has and always will ‘set me off’; it’s when somebody says, “You can do everything you used to do and more.” Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? That can be questionable.

Average folks see Olympic athletes and TV show stars with amputations doing amazing things and they assume that ALL amputees can do these things. That is NOT so. Riddle you this Batman… Prosthetics cost a lot of money and the more ‘tricked out’ they are, the more they cost. Even with health insurance it can be exorbitant to pay our out of pocket portion for such a piece of durable medical equipment. This doesn’t even take into consideration other health issues that may need attention. And do not be a fool to think that if somebody else causes an injury that their insurance will suddenly make all the problems go away. In most cases, folks don’t have enough coverage on their auto policy to come close to paying for lost wages for months or years, hundreds of thousands in medical bills, and costs associated with future care. This is putting it lightly because there are only so many pages in this magazine.

There is no place for backward thinking when there is so much more that is bigger and better waiting for us ahead. Just 18 months ago this horrific experience changed my life FOREVER. In the time that has passed since, I have learned a great deal about being an amputee, about my own inner strength, and about the plight that others have faced before me. I have talked to others with physical impairments and have helped them choose amputation over unending surgeries and pain. I have shared with whoever will listen and I have listened to whoever will share. I have found a greater respect for myself and for so many others that I didn’t really “see” before. Most of us realize that until a certain thing affects you personally, you cannot fully comprehend the entire breadth of a situation.

And so I welcome 2015 in its enormity and potential, with the support of my family, my friends, and my social media followers that all helped me rise up and not start over, but rather START NEW! This article is a brief look at my personal tragedy and loss of limb which I share openly. The PTSD, nightmares, and struggles

continue but get weaker as I grow stronger. My physical abilities improve a bit more with most days and I am functioning in a somewhat regular lifestyle. There remain a great many challenges and things that have been altered terrifically which I am still attempting to understand and overcome.

So many folks don’t understand the daily functionality of an amputee, they may not understand how mentally taxing such an experience can be, and they likely do not understand why on earth somebody like me would ever think of getting back on a motorcycle.

This article serves as a lead-in story for a project I have taken on to raise awareness of what amputee life is like, the trials, and the triumphs ~ most particularly, I am focusing on Amp’d Motorcyclists. I will be interviewing verbally many amputees that have lost limbs and gone on to continue their passion for motorcycle riding. We will hear all about their personal amputation, the modifications to bikes, the things that challenged them when they began riding again, and much more. The project will be followed with an article of summary from these great stories.

If you are or know an amputee motorcyclist, please reach me to participate in this project. For more information, go to: www.hdbroad.com.

Having several friends, military and civilian who have some form of disability that will not allow them to

ride as you or I do, I came across this invention that just astounded me. Reading some reviews and looking over their website, I felt encouraged to put an article together. It just might be what a reader needs to keep on riding. Imagine the ability to steady your bike as you come to a stop, have it held upright at a light or a stop sign with little or NO weight on your feet, (you really should put them down, but in many cases you won’t have to), then have the support automatically retract as you accelerate. The LegUp™ is just an assistant to help you balance your motorcycle as you start, stop and maneuver them slowly. It’s not a Trike system, but for

many, it can offer the benefits they would want from a trike and still allow them to ride their bikes as they always have!

The Patented LegUp™ system has two models GEN I and GEN II. Both have patents and both are computerized and ready to be installed on your

bike. Older riders, bad knees, bad hips or any other reason someone might want a little help keeping the motorcycle upright at slow speeds or a stop, this invention is designed to do just that with motorcycle weighing 850 pounds and more. The original Generation I system was designed for 1988 thru 2008 Harley touring bikes. It was soon adapted to many other bikes. Development the new Generation II system came two years later.

The GEN I uses an electric linear actuator, while the GEN II system uses an on-board compressor and air power to lower, at the touch of a button, legs with small wheels. These systems will only allow the wheels to lower at slow speeds and will balance the bike completely on level terrain. Typically, you still put your feet down, but LegUp™ makes it feel much lighter and is always there to help. The onboard computer senses speed and wheel position and upon acceleration, if the operator does not retract the wheels, LegUp™ will raise them automatically. With the wheels down, GEN I allows you to lean your bike a bit each way (about half as much as with the wheels retracted), which lets you adjust for uneven terrain, and make turns at slow speed with some help. The GEN II system does not allow you to lean as it holds the bike up so firmly, low speed maneuvering must be done using the handlebars, as you would a trike.

When not deployed, the wheels tuck neatly under the bags allowing the bike to be leaned

and handle exactly as it always has. The installation requires little or no cutting or modifications to the existing bike. There is no cutting or changes to your bike that cannot be reversed if you sell your bike or wish to move LegUp™ to another bike. The GEN II system is available for the big Harleys, Kawasaki Voyagers and Honda Goldwings. GEN I is made for the smaller bikes such as Harley Softails and Honda Shadows, etc.

This may be the most unique accessory you have ever seen for your Touring Bike. For more information you can go to: www.landingear.com

The name Evel Knievel is synonymous with daredevil. He was the undisputed king of stunt showmanship–the man who made

motorcycles fly. He enthralled audiences with his nonchalance as he faced death-defying exploits that left him with a record-breaking number of fractured or crushed bones, a permanent limp and the adoration of millions.

This August, the spirit of Knievel® will come to life at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip in a spectacular thrill show unlike any organized before. The Evel Knievel Thrill Show will consist of the largest collection of Evel Knievel curiosities ever assembled, including the Skycycle, x-rays of his numerous broken bones, the now-famous “Sports Illustrated” leathers and cape, and the Mack truck show-rig he named “Big Red.”

The Thrill Show will also include a dangerous attempt at an unsuccessful Evel Knievel world-record jump on the same bike that failed Evel and ultimately lead to his defeat. On Aug. 6, 2015, daredevil Doug Danger will attempt a 22-car jump on Evel Knievel’s vintage 1972 Harley-Davidson XR-750 in the middle of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip amphitheater.

Knievel attempted a jump over a line of 22 cars

Evel Knievel’s XR750 to Fly Again at SturgisPress Release: Buffalo Chip

on September 1, 1972 in Monroe, Washington. His crew warned that the bike would not attain the speed needed to clear the distance, but because Knievel insisted on doing the jump, they built a safety ramp over the last three cars. Knievel bounce-landed on the safety ramp and left defeated. More than 40 years later, Doug Danger is set to attempt the same jump on Knievel’s own bike and clear the 22nd car.

Knievel’s bike has not been altered with the exception of moving a foot peg to accommodate Danger’s height. Another daredevil attempted this jump in 2001, and it ended in a horrific crash.

“This is an incredibly difficult and terrifying jump,” said Buffalo Chip President Rod Woodruff. “We are doing all we can to make sure Doug Danger lands safely, but that bike was not built for a jump like this. We really hope he can make it.”

“This is the one jump Evel couldn’t make; he failed. I’m determined to succeed where he fell short,” Danger said. “I know it’s dangerous, but death has had me by the throat twice in my life, and I spit in its face. When God’s ready, he’ll take me.”

Polaris Acquires Electric Motorcycle, Brammo

Polaris Industries Inc. announced it has acquired the electric

motorcycle business of Brammo Inc. Polaris also is recapitalizating Brammo that enables the company to focus exclusively on the design, development and integration of electric vehicle powertrains. Brammo has award winning lithium-ion electric drivetrain technology with the Brammo Power™ battery pack and Brammo Power™ vehicle management systems. Polaris will begin manufacturing electric motorcycles in the second half of 2015.

Brammo’s motorcycles have won numerous racing championships including the 2013 FIM eRR North American World Cup Champion and 2012 TTXGP World Championship. For more information about, go to: www.brammo.com.

Rotary-powered hybrid military motorcycle can run on diesel or gas

Funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Logos Technologies, who developed the militaries SilentHawk ‘stealth’ motorcycle, have developed a Special Forces motorcycle in their prototype Phase II. It is fitted with a hybrid powertrain that combines a battery-

powered electric motor with a small Wankel rotary engine supplied by Cubewano that works as a range-extending generator and can power electrical equipment in the field. The rotary motor can run on diesel, JP-8, gasoline, or a mix of the three, so anything the operator can get their hands on during a mission will work.

The total range is 170 miles, with 50 of those in “silent drive” battery-powered mode. It weighs approximately 350 pounds and has a top speed of 90 mph. It also features a small, hub-mounted motor in the front wheel that gives it an all-wheel (two-wheel) drive for added off-road capability.

AMA Supports Senate Bill Banning Federal Funding For Moto Checkpoints

A bipartisan bill introduced in the senate would prohibit the use of federal funds in establishing

motorcycle-only checkpoints. Specifically, the “Stop Motorcycle Checkpoint Funding Act” would restrict the Secretary of Transportation from granting funds to any government entity for a program to check helmet use or to create checkpoints for an operator of a motorcycle or a passenger on a motorcycle.

“Motorcycle-only checkpoints are discriminatory, forcing riders and their passengers to do something not asked of other citizens, simply because we choose to travel on two wheels, or three, instead of four,” said Wayne Allard, AMA vice president for government relations. “If the NHTSA truly is interested in motorcyclists’ safety, it would fund proven programs that help prevent crashes, rather than these checkpoints.”

If passed, this federal bill will cut off NHTSA funding and ensure that riders across the country are safeguarded from these ineffective and discriminatory stops. For more information on the efforts by the AMA to fight motorcycle-only checkpoints, go to www.americanmotorcyclist.com.

You've got to try their corned beef hash, best in the world! My favorite is #1, Two eggs, biscuit, gravy, bacon @ $7. The biscuits and gravy are fantastic. If you're really hungry, try the three egg omelette with home fries @ $9. Entrees go for $10 - $12 and include chopped steak, meatloaf, turkey & dressing, chicken or catfish. THey offer daily specials also, with Friday (salmon croquettes) being my favorite. Everything is home made and the desserts are killer.

Turkey Wild Rice Soup.

Recipe Ingredients:8-10 cups turkey or chicken stock, divided8 oz. uncooked wild rice1 Tbs. olive oil1 medium onion, chopped2 cups celery - diced2 cups carrots - diced (I doubled this)1/2 tsp. pepper2 Tbs. chicken soup base or 2 Knorr cubes (I like Knorr)1 stick butter1/2 cup all-purpose flour2 cups half-and-half or cream2-4 cups diced cooked turkeySalt and pepper to tasteCooking Directions:Add eight cups of stock, chicken/bouillon/base and uncooked wild rice to a slow cooker set to high.

In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil & saute onion, celery and carrots until onion is transparent, about 7-9 minutes. Season with black pepper, and add the sauteed veggies to the crock pot.

Cook on high for 4 hours ( or on low for 6-8 hours) until the wild rice and veggies are sufficiently tender.

In the same skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour, and cook for a minute or two. Gradually add the half-and-half or whole milk, whisking constantly.

Once thickened and completely smooth, add the white sauce to the crock pot and stir to combine. Add the turkey and another cup of stock if you prefer a thinner soup and cook on high for another 15-20 minutes until heated through.

Taste to correct seasonings before serving.

34 - Southern Biker Magazine February, 2015

As the calendar has turned to 2015, it means looking ahead to all the great events and rallies that we all

enjoy throughout the year. One of my favorite things about attending these events and getting to meet all of the Southern Biker Magazine family is the ability to have one-on-one conversation with you all and answer legal questions which typically cover a wide variety of topics. But one topic that always comes up, and obviously is quite important, is how to ride legal. As we travel throughout the southeast all year to attend these events, you need to be cognizant that each state has different laws. Before heading out, make sure you know the particular state law to avoid ruining your trip with a big ticket.

Obviously we cannot go into every individual state and what laws differ throughout the southeast, but we can show you some examples about what to look for before heading out on a trip. For example, if you have ever ridden or driven in California, you will see that lane splitting is legal, and often used by motorcyclists in heavy traffic. Lane splitting is illegal throughout the southeast. But, riding two abreast is allowed in most southern states including Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Helmets are always a big conversation starter. For specific helmet safety, check out the July, 2014 article we wrote in Southern Biker Magazine. Most people already know that Georgia and Tennessee have mandatory helmet laws, and South Carolina and Florida do not. But, were you aware that different states have restrictions on helmet speakers? For example, in Georgia helmet speakers are only legal for communication purposes, where in Tennessee there are no restrictions on speakers whatsoever. While on the topic of sound, you may also want to check state's muffler and sound ordinance rules. Most southern states do not have any restriction with acoustics or mufflers, but a few like Tennessee do. Tennessee requires all bikes to have mufflers installed unless the bike is exempt.

One of the most common questions we are asked surround drivers licenses. Each state in the southeast requires the driver of a motorcycle to carry either a motorcycle license or a motorcycle endorsement. Further, each state has very specific requirements with regards to the issuance of motorcycle endorsement. If you or a loved one is contemplating getting a motorcycle license or endorsement, please review your state's law thoroughly. For example, southern states have drastically different laws for minors who want to get a motorcycle license. In South Carolina, you can be as young as 15 and have the ability to get a beginners permit. Yet in order to do this, you must be able to show that you have completed numerous requirements, including educational classes and driving 40 hours with a parent or guardian prior to getting your full endorsement.

Staying legal isn't just about keeping yourself free from tickets, it's also the cornerstone to being a safe rider. These are just a few examples of the differing laws when it comes to bikes. Trust me, there are dozens more. All of this can seem overwhelming and confusing sometimes, so if you ever have a question about one of these, or any other law, give Steelhorse Law a call. We spend a lot of time simply answering questions for our fellow riders. Or, as mentioned earlier, find us at your next event. We are always happy to help.
