Bunbury Regional Tenpin Bowls

On the 4th

to 6th

August, Special Olympics Perth Metro North took a team of 36 tenpin bowlers and 12 officials to the WADSA Regional Tenpin Bowling tournament in Bunbury. The team stayed at Koombana Bay and a lot of fun was had by all. On the trip down, one of our buses got a flat tyre so a big thank you to our resident mechanic and handy man, Kim Armstrong, for changing the tyre to ensure we all arrived safely in Bunbury. The games were played in a competitive but fun spirit and the following Metro North athletes collected an award.

Every Monday afternoon,

approximately 20 young children

participate in a SOWA Showcase of

sports, supported by Therapy Focus.

Every two weeks, a new sport is

introduced to the children aged

between 6 and 16 years.

A huge thanks to SOWA coaches

Rose Hartley, Tim Breadmore, Gerard

Gomez and Lesley Poole for

supporting the program.

Athlete Leadership Program

The Athlete Leadership Program members met for the quarterly training session held at St. George’s College. The guest speakers, Kelly Van Nelson and Fiona Gardener from Ajilon addressed the forum and spoke about the process of preparing resumes, applying for jobs and interview stages. It was a most informative subject and one which both athletes and mentors benefited from. Thanks Ajilon.
