Memorial Scholarship. Formerly

James G. Osborne Scholarship.

This scholarship is available to students

working towards an undergraduate degree. All grad-

uating seniors and above, along with vocational and

seminary, will be eligible. No graduate students may

apply. A GPA of 2.5 or higher, along with financial

needs, will be the basic criteria considered. An effort

to choose only Catholic students will be made among

the sons and daughters of current members of the

Knights of Columbus.

Applications for this $500 scholarship are available

in the St. Margaret’s parish office. Deadline for

applications is July 15, 2019.

In our Gospel reading this week Jesus’ seems to be making himself hard to follow. A person comes to him and says he will always follow him, and Jesus warns that he has no where to lay his head. Then Jesus seems impatient with two would be followers, not wanting them to say goodbyes or bury loved ones. I think we should look at it as a warning of how hard it is to truly follow him and how we should be care-ful not to make excuses or postpone our answer to the call to discipleship. St. Paul warns us this week to not consider our freedom from rigid observance of the law as license to do whatever we want. He reminds us that Jesus command-ment of Love of neighbor fulfills the law; it does not abolish it. When we follow Jesus com-mandment to love one another we are following the spirit, not the flesh. When we obey the one commandment of love the rest of them take care of themselves.

Adoration Schedule Change First Friday 24 Hour Adoration: Due to the 4th of July being celebrated on Thursday of the first week in July, we will have only First Friday Adoration on Friday, July 5 from 7:30-12:00. Many people indicated they would not be in town that weekend. So we will shorten Ado-ration observance. If you are in town that weekend, please stop by the Church in thanksgiving for our Inde-pendence and Freedom. Also, if you can offer a Holy Hour between 7:30-12:00, please call Julie Fiebiger (856-7556) or Mary Rohrbacher (840-4254). First Saturday Devotion: St. Stephen's Church will be offering Mass at 9:00 on Saturday, July 6. Confessions are available with Adoration from 8:00 - 9:00.
