Summer Camp 2019 LAKE NONA YMCA

FAQ: What should my camper wear to camp? Campers should wear active type clothing & closed-toe shoes. What should my camper bring to camp? What should my camper NOT bring to camp? Campers should bring spray sunscreen, a water bottle, morning and afternoon snacks, a swim suit, towel and lunch. Items that should be left at home, include any electronic devices, personal toys from home, or anything of high value. What is the camper to staff ratio? We maintain a ratio of one counselor for every 15 to 18 campers. Do you offer financial assistance? Yes, as a non-profit organization, financial assistance is made possible through charitable donations to our Annual Support Campaign. The deadline to apply is May 1st. When will parent orientation take place? Parent Orientation will be May 31 at 6:00 PM at the Lake Nona YMCA. Parents will get to ask specific questions, campers will receive their camper t-shirt, and they can enjoy some ice cream! How are weekly camp payments made? Weekly camp fees are to be paid in advance the week prior to the camp you are attending or paid in full. At initial sign-up you will pay the registration fee and the first week of camp. A minimum of two weeks written notice is required to successfully cancel a week of camp without penalty. Refunds or pro-rates will not be given for suspension, expulsion, illness, vacations, and are issued at the discretion of YMCA staff. Do you offer any type of educational enrichment? Yes, in addition to having fun at camp your child will also learn! We encourage campers to have quiet time and read weekly to prevent Summer Learning Loss in addition to having fun during our enriching activities.

MORE THAN JUST A CAMP Summer Camp at the Lake Nona YMCA will give your
child the opportunity to grow and thrive in a fun and
safe environment. We strive to give your child the
best experience at camp. Our nurturing and
experienced camp staff, exciting activities like
swimming, arts & crafts, games, field trips and more
make our camp one that your child won’t forget. You
will not want your child to miss out on what great
things we have in store for our campers! This will
truly be the BEST. SUMMER. EVER.

REGISTRATION PAYMENT OPTIONS
Pay in full
Pay on a weekly basis
Payments must be made the Friday prior to the
start of the selected camp week or a late fee will
be applied.
CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY
If the YMCA cancels a program, all enrollees will receive a
full refund of the camp fees, minus the registration fee.
Camps canceled due to inclement weather will not result
in any refunds. The YMCA will attempt to re-schedule
these camps but does not guarantee all camps will be
made up.
If a participant withdraws from a program 14 days prior
to the first day of camp, a full refund will be issued, less
a $10 processing fee.
If a participant withdraws before the second day of camp
a 75% refund will be issued, less a $10 processing fee.
If a participant withdraws on or after the second day of
camp, no refund will be issued.
All refunds are subject to the Director’s approval.
REGISTRATION FEES
A $35 registration fee will be collected for each camp-
er. This fee is non refundable.
DAY CAMP FEES: Due the Friday before the next week.
Members: $155/week per camper
Non Members: $275/week per camper
SPECIALTY CAMP FEES: Due at point of sale. Any
specialty camps not paid in full will not be reserved.
Members: $180/week per camper (STEM camp $195)

Myth Busters (June 3-June 7)
All about science! Campers will have a hands on expe-
rience testing all different types of science theories
such as why items sink or float, how slime is made
and much more!
Field Trip: Pirate Dinner Theater
Greek Greatness (June 10– June 14)
Explore ancient Greece and learn about the gods and
goddesses, the heroes and heroines and gladiators!
Create Zeus lightning bolts and Gladiator shields.
Field Trip: Rockstar 101 (on site)
Frozen Throw Down (June 17– June 21)
Travel all the way to the Artic and learn about the
creatures that live there. Compete in an iceberg jump!
Field Trip: Mascot Games
Up, Up and Away (June 24– June 28)
Get ready to go up,up and away to learn about the
skies above! Have fun making rocket ships and more!
Field Trip: Mad Science (on site)
Party in the USA (July 1– July 5)
Batman and Superman are cool and all, but our fire
fighters, police men and women, and military are our
everyday heroes! This week will be all about
celebrating our public service men and women!
*Camp will not operate July 4
Ultimate Ninja Showdown (July 8– July 12)
Campers will learn what it takes to be a ninja! They
will get to create their own ninja names and
compete in obstacle courses.
Field Trip: Legoland
Lost Legends (July 15– July 19)
Dive into the ancient legends throughout the world
from unicorns to big foot and fairies to the Loch
Ness Monster!
Field Trip: Gatorland
Blast from the Past (July 22– July 26)
Get sucked into the past where we will travel the
Oregon Trail and churn butter then fast forward to
the groovy 70’s on to the 80s!
Field Trip: Chocolate Kingdom Factory
Holiday Explosion (July 29– August 2)
Explore the world’s holidays! Travel to China and
create a Chinese New Years Lantern, Celebrate
Christmas and Halloween in July!
Field Trip: Firkin and Keglers
The Greatest Show (August 5-August 9)
Enjoy all the fun the circus has to offer! Get your
face painted, learn how to make balloon animals,
have popcorn relays, and play all the fun carnival
games!

Kinder Camp is a special camp geared specifically for those about to enter Kindergarten! During camp, our
Kinder Campers will have fun doing crafts, games, activities with colors, letters, numbers, shapes and will
also receive swim instruction. A birth certificate must be shown as proof of age at registration. Register
today!

AQUATICS LEARN TO SWIM CAMP COST: $180 Can’t pass the swim test yet? No problem! This camp
incorporates survival skills, swim test skills and many
other topics all in the pool.

AQUATICS SPORTS/GAMES COST: $180 Do you love the water? Do you love sports? Then this
camp is for you! From water polo to under water

FISHING CAMP COST: $180 Get your lines and reels and come on a fishing adventure
with us! Learn to hook, line and reel in fish. Explore the
different varieties of fish in our ecosystem.

FINE ARTS PICASSO CAMP COST: $180
Bring your creativity and join in our camp where it’s
all about the canvas painting! Go home with your own
Picasso creations. *AGES: 3rd-8th grade

CAMP’S GOT TALENT COST: $180 Be the next Rock Star and use your musical talents in
this music camp! Your camper will learn various
instruments, singing and so much more.

THEATER CAMP COST: $180 Put your best foot forward in theater camp. Learn all
the ins and outs of theater, behind the scenes and on

TUMBLING COST: $180 Choreograph your way to the top! This camp will
give you the ultimate gymnastics experience.

ART & GARDENING COST: $180 Calling all Picassos! With the combined fun of painting and
gardening, this camp will explore your artistic mind!

S.T.E.M. CRAZY CHEMISTIST COST: $195 Shake up a laboratory flask of fun in the Y lab and become a
junior scientist! Learn how to make different chemical
reactions, make slime and so much more.**

INVENTOR’S CAMP COST: $195 This is a camp designed by you—the Inventor! Each day you’ll
be given a series of challenges which must be overcome using
basic materials, simple machines, tips from world famous
inventors and the most important thing of all – your mind. **

ROCKIN’ ROBOTICS COST: $195 Experiment with sound sensing robots, line-tracking
robots, programmable robots, and even robots that purr!
Even make a mini robot of your own to take home! **

EXPLORE ANIMAL LOVERS COST: $180 Do you love animals as much as we do? This camp will
give you the opportunity to learn how to care for
animals and play with them!

JUNIOR CHEF’S COST: $180 Calling all Chefs to this cooking camp! We love to
cook and in our cooking camp we will share that love
with you. Learn the safest way to prepare and cook
food. Try a variety of different recipes.
*AGES: 3rd-8th grade
July 8 - July 12
OUTDOOR ADVENTURERS COST: $180 Take a hike on the wild side, over the river and
through the woods! Learn all about different plants
and animals you may find in the woods and how to
survive in the wilderness.

AIRPORT EXPLORERS COST: $180 Have you ever wondered what it’s like behind the
scenes at the airport? Your camper will get to go see
how our luggage is handled, see police dogs in action
and learn how planes work.

SPORTS BASKETBALL COST: $180 Join us as our camper learn the basic FUNdamentals of
basketball such as dibbling, shooting, passing and the
basics of defense.
K-3rd grade June 11-June 15

SOCCER COST: $180 Great for any athlete wanting to learn more and im-
prove their soccer skills. Campers will need to bring
their own shin guards.

GOLF CAMP Golf camp teaches your junior golfer the basics and
stimulates their enthusiasm for the fame. As their skills
improve so will their confidence and concentration.
