USING THE AMENITIES

NEW! Exploring the Euer Valley Tahoe Donner recently purchased a beautiful 482 acre piece of land known as the Euer Valley. For years, the association has leased winter access to the land for its cross country ski center and now the land will be available for year-round uses. Appropriate uses and rules are cur-rently being crafted by staff and the board of directors, with extensive feedback from Tahoe Donner members. This summer, the Euer Valley will be open to members and guests for hiking, biking, and equestrian riding, with the following guidelines: • Motorized access to the Euer Valley is forbidden, except for Tahoe Donner staff and others who have a deeded right of way over the land.• For the next three years, free range livestock will be present in the valley. Please avoid them and proceed with caution.• The Euer family still owns 40 acres in the middle of the valley. This land will eventually be marked. In the meantime, please avoid hiking near the homestead and its nearby buildings.• On select weekends this year, Tahoe Donner will offer a shuttle bus with paid access from the Equestrian Center to the Euer Valley. Visit tahoedonner.com for details this summer.• The Euer Valley is a “pack in/pack out” destination. Please do your part to keep this a litter-free landscape.• Respect the privacy of those who live adjacent to the Euer Valley, including the end of Alder Creek Road.Sound levels should be kept low and any vehicles should be parked at the Equestrian Center. Thank you for your cooperation as we make this outstanding land available to members while preserving the natural experience there. Join us for a special event in the valley on Saturday, July 28. See pg. 11 for more information.

Trail Rides Our experienced wranglers and trail-wise horses will take you on a ride through high mountain forests and upland meadows or down into the lush Euer Valley full of wild flowers, grazing cattle and icy cold mountain streams. Stands of quaking aspen, willows, pines and fir, and thickets of manzanita are home to the wild life of the High Sierra. California black bears, mule deer, chicka-rees and red-tail hawks are frequently spotted during rides. The chatter of squirrels, the whir of a quail’s wings as it flees into the brush, the occasional scream of a hawk along with the whisper of wind in the trees all blend into a background of natural music punctuated with the hoof beats of your mount. You’ll sway in the saddle, relaxed, the sun warm on your shoulders; for a brief hour or two taking a break from the electronic world. The only communication devices needed are the reins guiding your horse.

Trail riders must be at least 7 years old and 4 feet tall. Our weight limit is approximately 230lbs. These are scenic walking rides in western saddles and are offered at regularly scheduled times. Reservations are required/24 hour cancellation policy.
