It was the best job I have ever had and it was an honor to represent this fantastic Lodge! Our Lodge is know as “The Friendly Lodge on the Beautiful Peace River” and it is our mem- bers and officers who keep that motto alive. You only need to be here to know what I’m talk- ing about. The crowds are unbelievable and everyone is having fun! We have a great reputa- tion and other Elks enjoy visiting our Lodge. We support our two major charities-The Florida State Elks Youth Camp and Children’s Ther- apy Services, as well as our veterans, and our kids. I know you join me in wishing our new officers for 2016—2017 the best year possible and in pledging our support to carry on our wonderful reputation. We are one of the smallest Lodges in our district (physically) but we have the largest mem- bership in Florida-4088. (Of course, when we drop our 129 delinquent members, our mem- bership will be more than 3950. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they would all pay their dues?) We also have the most beautiful location! I used to worry because we have limited room for dancing but our members make it work. Of course, El Nino didn’t do us any favors this year with so much rain and cold weather but it didn’t keep our members home. During this past year, Paul and I have at- tended all the visitations in our district (which we have been doing for years), the District Deputy’s Visit, State President’s Vis- it, State Convention in Orlando, Quarterly at the Elks Youth Camp and the National Con- vention in Indianapolis. It has been a busy and fun-filled year and we have met so many wonderful Elks. Now to some serious business. Once again, I ask for your patience. The crowds at the Lodge are very large. Our bartenders and wait staff are doing their best but as you all know, everyone is struggling to keep up. Whether you are eating in the dining room or the bar, service is probably slower than you would like but believe me, every- one is trying. SMOKERS. If you smoke, please be courteous and throw your cigarette butts in the receptacles provided. There is absolutely no reason anyone should have to go around and pick up cigarette butts. (I can’t believe I even had to write this.) Parking continues to be a problem. First, we barely have enough to begin with and second, a good portion has been under water. We need to find a solution to the problem. In the meantime, I appreciate your patience. I know it isn’t easy to come to the Lodge and then not be able to find a place to park. I would like to thank all the committee chairs and members who work on the various committees. We couldn’t do it without your help! I would also like to thank the Elkettes again for all their help. Please support this group at the Thrift Shop and when they have fund raisers. Their money also goes to Elks charities. Thank you ladies for all you do. I would also like to thank Bob Hahn, Michele Kossel, and everyone who participated in the tenth and final Memo- ries and Dreams show. Because of this group, our Lodge will once again be donating at least $7000 to the Chil- dren’s Therapy Services. And keep an eye out for something new next year. Once again, thank you to all the members of Punta Gorda Lodge 2606. It has been a wonderful year and one I will remember always. You are the best!! See you at the Lodge! The Friendly Lodge on the Beautiful Peace River I would like to thank all the com- mittee chairs and members who work on the vari- ous committees.

The first thing I want to say is THANK YOU for allowing me to serve as your Exalted Ruler this

past year. It was the best job I have ever had and it was an honor to represent this fantastic

Lodge!

Our Lodge is know as “The Friendly Lodge on the Beautiful Peace River” and it is our mem-

bers and officers who keep that motto alive. You only need to be here to know what I’m talk-

ing about. The crowds are unbelievable and everyone is having fun! We have a great reputa-

tion and other Elks enjoy visiting our Lodge.

We support our two major charities-The Florida State Elks Youth Camp and Children’s Ther-

apy Services, as well as our veterans, and our kids. I know you join me in wishing our new

officers for 2016—2017 the best year possible and in pledging our support to carry on our

wonderful reputation.

We are one of the smallest Lodges in our district (physically) but we have the largest mem-

bership in Florida-4088. (Of course, when we drop our 129 delinquent members, our mem-

bership will be more than 3950. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they would all pay their dues?)

We also have the most beautiful location! I used to worry because we have limited room for

dancing but our members make it work. Of course, El Nino didn’t do us any favors this year with so much rain and

cold weather but it didn’t keep our members home.

During this past year, Paul and I have at- tended all the visitations in our district

(which we have been doing for years), the District Deputy’s Visit, State President’s Vis-

it, State Convention in Orlando, Quarterly at the Elks Youth Camp and the National Con-

vention in Indianapolis. It has been a busy and fun-filled year and we have met so

many wonderful Elks.

Now to some serious business. Once again, I ask for your patience. The crowds at

the Lodge are very large. Our bartenders and wait staff are doing their best but as

you all know, everyone is struggling to keep up. Whether you are eating in the dining

room or the bar, service is probably slower than you would like but believe me, every-

one is trying.

SMOKERS. If you smoke, please be courteous and throw your cigarette butts in the receptacles provided. There

is absolutely no reason anyone should have to go around and pick up cigarette butts. (I can’t believe I even had to

write this.)

Parking continues to be a problem. First, we barely have enough to begin with and second, a good portion has

been under water. We need to find a solution to the problem. In the meantime, I appreciate your patience. I know

it isn’t easy to come to the Lodge and then not be able to find a place to park.

I would like to thank all the committee chairs and members who work on the various committees. We couldn’t do

it without your help! I would also like to thank the Elkettes again for all their help. Please support this group at the

Thrift Shop and when they have fund raisers. Their money also goes to Elks charities. Thank you ladies for all you

do.

I would also like to thank Bob Hahn, Michele Kossel, and everyone who participated in the tenth and final Memo-

ries and Dreams show. Because of this group, our Lodge will once again be donating at least $7000 to the Chil-

dren’s Therapy Services. And keep an eye out for something new next year.

Once again, thank you to all the members of Punta Gorda Lodge 2606. It has been a wonderful year and one I

will remember always. You are the best!!

See you at the Lodge!

MARCH MESSAGE

Welcome March, the month we celebrate Spring! Let's hope for warmer weather be-cause it was a cold win-ter! Look for the Elkettes selling chocolate filled Easter eggs. You may find money in one. $1 gets you the egg of your choice.

Being Irish, I will be wearing green on St. Patricks' Day. Show your Irish side, put on green!! Being Irish is not a requirement! Our annual Tea will be held at the Lodge on March 19th. Wear a hat and you may win a prize! Tickets are $20 each and as events in the past, will surely sell out. Tickets can be purchased from Lu Pfeiffer or Carol Nakin. As you know, Monday night is "Chicken Night". The Elkettes refer to it as "Dessert Night". Have your chicken, but don't forget your dessert! All des-serts are Lenten approved and have no calories!! Take out boxes are available if you prefer your des-sert at a later time! Thank you for your continued support. Our strength comes from you! Happy Easter, Everyone!
