Club Jaeb to Feature Jeffrey Foucault The Straz Center for the Performing Arts presents Jeffrey Foucault on Monday, January 12, 2015, at 7:30 p.m., as part of the Straz Center’s 2014-2015 Club Jaeb series. Now celebrating its 10th season, Club Jaeb transforms the Straz Center’s Jaeb Theater into an intimate music space featuring folk, Americana, alternative, country

and other “hand-picked music that matters.”Longtime disciple of the rich and strange music that sings behind the American veil, Jeffrey Foucault has spent the last decade mining the darker seams of country

and blues. Foucault has honed his sound over the course of ten studio albums, including four collections of original material and two full-band lyrical collaborationswith contemporary poet Lisa Olstein, under the band name Cold Satellite.

From his early and largely acoustic collections Foucault has broadened his range with each release, drawing on the bedrock forms of American music to distill aunique amalgam of rock ‘n’ roll, blues and country, producing a string of spare and elemental albums of rare power while garnering accolades for a tersely elegantbrand of songwriting. Along the way, he has played with artists and icons such as Guy Clark, Greg Brown, Chris Smither, Kelly Joe Phelps, Gillian Welch, RichardBuckner, John Hammond and others. Foucault specializes in dark narrative ballads, haunting character studies, and spare love songs embellished with his richly tonedfinger style guitar work. His repertoire is pure Americana poetry-a mix of country blues, country and folk music that the Boston Globe noted for its “rolling, reflectiveballads [that] shimmer with blue shade, everyday images, and the quiet strength of hard-earned wisdom.”

Regularly priced tickets for the Monday, January 12, 2015, 7:30 p.m. performance by Jeffrey Foucault are $28.50 and may be purchased by calling 813.229.STAR(7827) or 800.955.1045 outside Tampa Bay, in person at the Straz Center Ticket Sales Office or online at www.strazcenter.org.
