Good of the League:  April Minutes: - Willie Williams passed a patriotic braceletaround the room that we could use as a fund raiser. The bracelet costs us $1.25 andwe could sell it for $5.00. This is an idea he would like to see us think about and

bring up maybe next month for discussion and possible action. Reminder thatAmerican Legion Post 71 Golf Tournament will take place on 30 April, the sameday as our fund raiser at Belk’s. We need someone to be at Belk’s the day of the

sale. Devell Durham stated he would like to touch base with area high Schools

about the possibility of us starting a scholarship.

Jeff Jones stated National has lost their vender for the red blazers and ratchet belts. They are in the process of finding a new vender. He stated that in the month sincethe National Mid-Winter Conference when all was well something has happenedat National and today Meg Thornburg, National Paymaster and De bbie in Ship’s

Store resigned. He reminded all of the up-coming Pound 210 Growl at his place inMiddlesex. Shooters can begin at 0900 and the meal to be served at 1200 withgrowl starting at 1300. On the dog side of the house he announced we are losingthe Devil Dog insignia for our covers because the pith helmet has the Eagle Globeand Anchor. The Marine Corps is suing us over this. The Foundation is trying totake the designation Devil Dogs name because they want to use it. Lastly, he

brought the Department M-1 rifle that we are raffling at the DepartmentConvention in June. He has tickets for $10.00 each. Discussion about Facebookand Web Page being the same took place. Commandant Daniel thanked the guestsfor coming and invited them to stay and celebrate with us after the meeting.

Carry-On Detachment has been significantly growing and setting the standard thatother Detachment’s are following and asking for our assistance. The more our

members are active and in the public eye –  in turn, brings in new Marines andFMF Corpsmen wanting to join our Detachment. Thanks for all you do Carry-OnDetachment and keep up the outstanding work. Lewis W. Rice III - Semper Fi!

Johnston County Courthouse. –  Come out and participate!

Correspondence:  Adjutant read e-mail from Department announcing theupcoming Department Convention. Also, he read an email from Detachment # 857concerning the National Convention in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Unfinished Business:  The application for a Memorial Brick at the Archer LodgeVeterans Memorial had to be cancelled as the price was not $100.00 as previouslythought. That check was voided. The correct price is $175.00. Devell Durhammade a motion that was seconded by Jodie Hislop to purchase a brick at the new

price. Motion carried. Lewis Rice announced the price of the ceramic plate he brought last month with EGA in it would be $40.00 to anyone interested.
