For a good many years now there have been UFO sightings made on a regular basis throughout the Adelaidedistrict, particularly over the Adelaide Hills. In 1956 a glowing yellowish cylinder-shaped craft was seen to land onenight in August outside Mount Pleasant. Three glowing silvery-garbed beings were said to have emerged from the15m or so length, 6ft tall craft, by a local man, Mr Charles D., as he hid among trees. The craft had landed nearby ina paddock. The mystery craft had made no sound and had first been sighted in the moonlight by the farmer fromhis back yard, descending from the sky emitting a glow. He dashed through nearby scrub on foot to get a closer

look. He said afterwards that the three beings moved about the vicinity of their craft for only a few minutes, thenreturned through an opening that appeared in the middle of the cylindrical craft, which then quickly rose into the airto disappear over the surrounding scrubland in the direction of St Vincent Gulf.

Blue Mountains UFO Research Club Newsletter January 2008. 3 This report, from an old UFO magazine, is typical of the many Unidentified Flying Objects which

continue to be seen over Adelaide, if not elsewhere in South Australia, where they are known to have followed carsday or night along lonely open country roads.

The cylinder from of UFO varies widely in both size and colour. Many silver, also yellow, green, black,even clear cylindrical UFOs have been sighted around Australia day and night. They constitute one of the mostcommon UFO designs.

During the December 1st-2nd Cosmic Connection Conference, organised by Kevin and Vanessa Robb inAdelaide [at which the author was a principal speaker], I learnt of many new UFO sightings accounts from people I

met there, many who were long-time residents of the Adelaide district, and could go back many years with theirown encounters. Here I also met one lady who had been abducted, she said, by beings in broad daylight, who ledher into a large, clear cylindrical craft. Once inside she found the interior to be made of a solid material and couldnot see outside! This report will appear in full in our forthcoming UFO book.

However, I am now able to report our own encounter with one of the notorious Adelaide districtcylinders. It was while we were driving through the Mount Compass area, after staying with Kevin and VanessaRobb, that I felt myself being told [as usual] to have Heather stop the car so I could take a scenic photo, lookingback towards the hill country that we had just driven down from. The date was Wednesday 5th December 2007.

As I took a photo, I spotted through the viewfinder what I thought to be a light aircraft, black-coloured,moving north to south to the west of the hills, high over a farm. It seemed to be surrounded by a haze. Spurts ofthis haze were being emitted from both ends. Two small balls appeared to be ejected from the northern end ofthe object.

I could not quickly find my binoculars as they were packed away, so a closer look was not possible. Thecraft moved on at a moderate speed, to rise up and vanish over the hills.

The craft appeared cylindrical in shape, and a bit larger than average light aircraft. The resultingphotograph, although not one of the better UFO examples, was in any case taken to capture scenery, even if I didcapture a UFO on it!

MOUNT COMPASS AREAPHOENICIAN FINDS.by Rex Gilroy


During the 1st-2nd December 2007 cosmic Connection Conference, at which I was a principal speaker, I took timeout to search for further Phoenician rock inscriptions along a dirt road alongside properties, where the previous

April, and on an even earlier visit, I had uncovered a number of Bronze-Age [ie around 2000-1400BC] rockinscriptions and human images, the later being images of the Phoenician god Baal.

The relics are gradually being washed to the surface by rain. Yet why are so many Phoenician relics turning

up here? The answer lies in the fact that a massive quartz reef extends through these hills. It is obvious that thePhoenicians had established a large settlement hereabouts to mine this gold, which they would surely havetransported down to the coast [St Vincent Gulf] on oxen drawn carts after its smelting, where it was loaded ontotriremes for transport back to the Red Sea ports.

Australia was a land known to the civilisations of antiquity, and that the Phoenicians, often navigating Egyptianvessels, were sailing here in often large fleets containing settlers and miners, via Indian and Malayan ports, fromwhere they obtained livestock, including camels and horses for deep inland exploration for mineral and gemstone-bearing sites. Our new book Pyramids of Destiny Lost Pacific Colonies of the Bronze-Age God-Kings [URUPublications 2008] will appear later this year. It contains plenty of evidence of such activities, carried out in everystate of Australia.

*****Searching along the dirt roadside, on this occasion I was assisted by Peter OBrien, who had flown down

for the conference. Peter spotted an inscribed stone lying on the roadside, and shortly afterwards we turned up acouple more. Then another two were found at another nearby roadside location. All these stones bore votiveoffering inscriptions for some long-vanished shrine to the Phoenician Sun-God, Baal. These later two stones wereof particular interest. One bore the message:

Placed here [with an offering] for Baal the Sun, our God, the Sun, behold His Eye.The stone measured 17.5cm tall by 10.3cm wide.The other stone was, however, more interesting, for it was carved in the form of a human head, the eyes,

nose and mouth still visible, although the left half of the mouth had broken away with time. It measured 11.7cm tallby 9.5cm in length and 5cm in breadth. It bore the message Ya-na-ga the dark haired elder on its left side.

It was not long before I spotted a second rock face carving, with a happy smiling mouth. This weatheredstone was 15.5cm in height by 13cm in width and 8.5cm in depth.

Soon after this find, another head carving was discovered, bearing the stroke letter B for Baal. It was 14cmin height by 9.5cm in width and 9.5cm in depth.

I continued on searching after Peter had to return to the Robbs home. Fading light forced me to stop, butonly after my booty consisted of eight inscribed stones.

Other evidence of ancient Middle-East Bronze-Age contacts has been uncovered elsewhere aroundAdelaide, and of course there are the Gilroy discoveries of a major city-size mining settlement in the FlindersRanges still under our investigation.

Once again, finds such as the foregoing are showing just how old our continents history of discovery,exploration and colonisation really is.

YOWIES IN THE KANANGRA.By Rex Gilroy.


During our Friday 4th January 2008 Kanangra Boyd National Park visit, while Heather waited in the car, Ann Taylorand I were returning from another search for Uru megalithic evidence in the forests, when, on a dirt track, we cameacross a couple of large hominid footprints in gravely sand. One was barely visible, but the other , a right foot, stillshowed a foot outline with toes still visible despite a scattering of gravels over them.

The footprint measured 60cm in length by 27cm across the toes by about 18 and 15cm width in places by1cm in depth.. 42cm away was the other, faint impression. The hominid had left a lengthy scratch mark from a stick

or even a spear it might have been carrying.Yowies [ie hairy people, so named by Aborigines due to the animal hide cloaks they worer] have been

making their presence known in the Kanangra a lot lately. On Sunday 18th November 2007 Greg Foster and Istumbled upon yet another set of tracks, which like this latest one, appeared to be only a day old.. The November

Blue Mountains UFO Research Club Newsletter January 2008. 7 tracks were of two individuals; one foot impression faced north, the other south, barely 23cm apart and 8cm indepth in moss. The north-pointing footprint was a right foot, measuring 35cm length by 21cm width and 12cm

width across the heel. The south-pointing impression was a left foot 22cm length by 11cm across the toes and 6cmacross the heel.

*****The latest footprint suggests that a number of these hominids are currently resident somewhere out there in

the dense forest country and moving far afield in their daily search for bush food. We had Heather come to the siteand she had a look at the footprint.

The vast interior of the Kanangra Boyd National Park contains remote, eerie swamplands which have beenthe locations of relict hominid footprint finds in the past, and also sightings claims made by those who have beenhardy enough to penetrate this wilderness in a few places. Some people who have done so have disappeared neverto be seen again. To become lost in the Kanangra wilderness and survive is a rarity I was told, following my ownrescue after a night in 3 degrees below freezing temperatures! [I have described my experience in full in theIntroduction of Out of the Dreamtime The Search for Australasias Unknown Animals [URU Publications2007].

So the Yowies inhabiting the more remote regions out there have a very good chance of surviving modernhuman intrusion into their domain Good Luck to them!

NEW DISCOVERIES INTHE LOST CITY OF KANANGRABOYD NATIONAL PARK.By Rex Gilroy.


There have been new developments in our investigations into the depths of Kanangra Boyd, where lies theextensive ruins of the lost Uruan megalithic city, discovered by Heather and I over 20 years ago.Located in out-of-the-way Burragorang forestland, it is typical of the megalithic structures erected

Australia-wide in the dim past, by the Uru, descendants of the earliest modern humans who evolved in Australia byat least 200,000 years ago. The Uru can rightly be called THE Super civilisation of the Stone-Age. It is undoubtedlythe first civilisation on earth, and I am its discoverer, having found the first traces of this culture here on the BlueMountains in 1965.

It is thanks to the help provided by Greg Foster that recently we uncovered the name of this city, and alsohave begun to uncover much new information from rock inscriptions about this people the Master Race of theStone-Age.

On Tuesday 1st January the Gilroys and Greg Foster made an afternoon visit to a new site recently locatedby me. Below a massive granite shoal bearing an alignment of huge boulders on a roughly north-south axis, I

discovered a collapsed idol in the form of a granite pillar 7.31m in length by 2.9m in width and depth, bearing theweathered image of a birds head, I-na, the Eagle of the Sun. Nearby stood a massive boulder - 2.44m tall by2.75m width and 14.2m in overall circumference. It bore two large eyes, a large nose, and a wide smiling mouth.Here was an image of the happy God Nim, God of the Sun.

Further south of these images, upon a large granite shoal, we found an 11.89m length by 3.5m and 75cm indepth image of the Earth-Mother Goddess, Nif. There was also an image of Nim, 2.5m length by 1.2m width by 1min depth, carved out of a section of granite which ages ago had split right down the centre.

We had to leave so I could make a quick visit to another location, to inspect images discovered by Greg onan earlier visit. I had seen the site but not noticed the weathered images he was about to show me. The otherstructures previously noticed by me on earlier visits here were now seen in a new light, for not only was one ofGregs images a large crumbling idol of the Koala God, Nos the Uruan God of Knowledge, but the other was ahuge head of Nim, the centrepiece of a small shrine, but which had now slipped to one side.

Below this shrine, at the base of a cliff, beneath a huge rock wall, was an inscription to Nim and a referenceto a school for the teaching of sacred knowledge. Below this, a large altar stone overlooked a gully below where asettlement once stood. We got of the forest one step ahead of the approaching darkness.

Blue Mountains UFO Research Club Newsletter January 2008. 9 On Friday 4th January Heather and I returned to the Kanangra wilderness with Ann Taylor. Aside from

locating new megalithic structures, we were here to test my theory concerning energy emissions from megalithicstone alignments.

This operation, thanks to Ann, was a complete success! Once darkness fell, with Heather back at the car,we headed off into the dark forest with torches [and a compass in my pocket]. Eventually we reached a large Nimtemple. I was visiting this place for the first time at night and it was interesting what darkness can do to structures,

with the torchlight casting shadows on features not noticed by day. The photos I took afterwards revealed energylight balls rising from stone avenues and individual stones, including a giant Nim head erected at this site.

The reason for this release of energy at night is due to the crystalline content of these stones, whichreceives the heat energy of the Sun by day, releasing it by night. I believe this release of energy occurs around 10pmonce the stones begin cooling and the energy trapped in the stones begins escaping in the form of light balls. Anincredible amount of energy thus rises from the lost city of the Kanangra Boyd/Burragorang and all otherstructures at night. And there is evidence that the Uru somehow knew of and in some ways harnessed this energy.

Our next stop was a series of alignments upon a lengthy shoal. Here Uruan astronomers once watched thenight sky, observing the risings and settings of various stars and planets. Other research at night has still to becarried out here concerning the possible alignment with the full Moon with one of these alignments and the Sunmay also have been aligned with one of the alignments. These investigations will be carried out over comingmonths.

However, as before at the Nim temple, light balls were photographed rising not just from the alignmentstones but from the granite shoal upon which they stood. They were rising from stones in the forest as we worked

our way through the foliage with our torches, eventually reaching Heather. We drove home wondering what bigdiscoveries yet await us out there in those eerie forest depths.

LATEST FOSSIL HOMINID SKULL FINDS SPARKNEWTHEORIESON PRE-ABORIGINALAUSTRALIAN HOMO EVOLUTION.

The Gilroys recent trip to Adelaide, for the Cosmic Connection Conference [held on the weekend of December 1stand 2nd 2007 at which I was a principal speaker] was fortuitous, in that a stop at Euston on the Murray River,

resulted in the chance discovery of a fossil skull-type of the archaic Homo sapien form, which I now see as a linkbetween hominids of the Flinders Ranges SA who possessed similar skulls and the May 1972 skull endocast from

Tarana, recovered by my late father, Mr W.F. [Bill] Gilroy.The evidence suggests that the three widely-distributed skull-types are representative of populations of

archaic Homo sapiens, which established themselves in ideal surroundings, and through isolation developed slightvariations in skull formation, although still constituting a single race.

The three skull-types bear the Latinised names of [Flinders Ranges SA 2005] Homo flindersii, 300,000 yearsBP, [Euston, Murray River NSW 2007] Homo eustonensis, between 350,000-400-000 years BP, [Tarana, Fish RiverNSW 1972] Homo archaicus, 300,000 to 350,000 years BP.

The Euston skull is of limestone mineralisation and measures 21.7cm in length, 14cm width above thebrow ridges and 12cm width across the face, by 12.5cm in depth. I found this skull by sheer accident, having walkedfrom the car to the Murray Rivers edge through gum scrub. I chanced to look down at my feet about a metre from

the waters edge, and saw a section of smooth, shining limestone protruding just above the sand. For no particularreason I was led to dig it out with a stick, only to find that I had just unearthed a mineralised, brachiocephalic [ieroundish] primitive human skull. This non-Australoid fossil now presents us with good evidence for the earliestHomo sapien evolution from earlier Homo erectus in Australia, well before his earliest appearance in Africa a mere200,000 years ago.

The fossil is worn with ages of weathering and the right side of the skull was pushed in early in its burial bysoil pressure. There is a very low forehead extending back from worn, once-projecting brow ridges. The left side ofthe skull has lost a portion of material from beside the left eye socket. The lower jaw had been fused to the palate.

The face projects forward as in earlier Homo erectus skull-types.*****

We were still contemplating this skull find when the year ended. The Euston find came from an area thathad already produced Homo erectus fossils on a previous visit.

Following our New Years Eve party, Greg Foster stayed overnight. Once recovered from the previousnight, I made a spot decision to make a New Years Day field trip to Kanangra Boyd National Park. We would be alittle late getting there however, due to a major fossil hominid skull find at a Coxs River site, which I decidedcasually to have a look at along the way, and also because we had a flat tire on the Kanangra Boyd Road, whichGreg showed his expertise at fixing!

To cut a long story short, as they say, I had decided to take an off-the-beaten-track dirt road on our wayafter Heather had driven down Mt Victoria Pass.

The weather was pretty hot, but getting Heather to park under the trees, Greg and I made a fruitlessinspection of a river gravel site near the riverbank, but found nothing. However, upon working our way down a dirttrack onto another section of the river, we both spotted a broken lump of limestone.

Incredibly, although someone, probably on a trail bike, had crunched over the left side of the rockbreaking a portion of it off [a close search failed to locate the missing portion, if it had not already been destroyed],

we could easily detect two eye sockets the left one being more prominent, the right socket being wornconsiderably [although shadow detail brings both out well for photography]. Although much of the braincase hadbeen broken or worn away, along with a sliver or two of skull dome, the fossil was doliocephalic in skull shape [ielong, narrow] as in Homo erectus skull-types.

The skull was completely mineralised into limestone and had a flat skull as in all archaic Homo erectines.Despite its worn smooth appearance and some portions worn flat through grazing on other rocks when tumbledmore than once perhaps along the river, the fossil still displayed a flattish, projecting muzzle of a kind only found inextremely ancient hominid skull-types found in Asia and Africa.

Another remarkable feature is the sloping lower jaw, and although the broken off left facial sectionremoved with it the left portion of the mouth area, there remains a portion of the right side of what appears to havebeen fused jaws displaying faded upper and lower teeth!

The fossil had been weathered to the surface by heavy rain over past months. It came from a 3.66m strataof ancient river gravel deposits situated far back from the course of the present river. The owner of the skull hadlived at a time when the river was much higher up than it is today, that is, during early Pleistocene times.

Blue Mountains UFO Research Club Newsletter January 2008. 29 Upon various grounds, apart from the stratification from which it originated, I believe that

Greg and I have unearthed an archaic form of Homo erectus skull dating back to 1.5 million years. I have thusgiven it the scientific Latinised name of Homo erectus coxii [Gilroy and Foster].

A picture can now be formed of groups of Homo erectus coxii inhabiting the Coxs River country, andsurely other watercourses extending over a vast region of central western NSW. Being so close to the BlueMountains it would not be surprising to eventually find another coxii skull-type somewhere hereabouts also. I amnow seeking lithic technology of this race, and believe the Coxs River site could reveal crude eoliths [ie dawntools] left by these beings.

Homo erectus coxii stood roughly at around 1.5 to 1.6 metres tall. There are comparisons between coxiiand the proto-Homo erectus of Narrow Neck Plateau, Katoomba [2005] at 2 million years BP; and proto-Homoerectus billyii, from Wisemans Creek, Bathurst NSW [2007] aged 2 million years BP also. Structural features of coxiisuggest this race to be an offshoot of the proto-Homo erectus of either the Katoomba or Wisemans Creek forms.

The implications are also that the later archaic Homo erectines of the central west were later direct descendants ofcoxii on the road to becoming modern humans.
