    MYSTERYPYRAMID/TEMPLE DISCOVERED

IN THE BLUE MOUNTAINS.by Rex GilroyCopyright Rex Gilroy 2010.

On Thursday 10th June 2010 while exploring rugged forest-covered mountain country together with my wife Heatherand our Brisbane, Qld-based assistant, Geoff Holland, I stumbled upon a huge, crumbling sandstone/ironstonemegalithic ruin hidden amid gum forest and a tangle of shrubbery and scratchy vines.

As the find was made in late afternoon I could only make a short overall inspection and a return visit will soonhave to be made for more detailed measuring and search for any carvings and other relics which may positively identifythe structures origins.

However, we could see that the structure was on a roughly south to north axis, and that it was a four-sidedpyramid, the south side sloping away to form a wide causeway to a flat summit, where I could see that collapsed

stonework once formed four walls with an opening to the south [causeway] side of the pyramid. As I began leaving the structure I noticed fading symbols but had no time to make a detailed search for moreof these.

However, from our quick inspection we estimated the structure to be about 15 metres tall, by 24.3 metres or sowide at its north base, and about 60 metres in length from the north base to that of the causeway, or ceremonialstaircase, which is flanked on both sides by the remains of walls.

It was obvious that this was no ordinary pyramid, and I have yet to find an Uruan structure of this kind. It doesnot give the appearance of an ancient Bronze-Age Middle-East pyramid. However, its pyramid-temple appearancereminds one of certain Amerindian structures. Shortly after leaving this relic, there was til enough late afternoon lightfor me to discover another ruin, consisting of crumbling stone walls and enclosure outlines upon a tree-covered riseoverlooking a valley. Faded glyphs on rocks however had to wait until my next visit.

That we may have stumbled upon an Amerindian temple-pyramid does not seem all that impossible, as there is

already evidence of Mayans, Peruvians and others having reached eastern Australia and new Zealand on balsa wood raftvoyages following the Pacific currents at least between 250 AD and around 2,000 or more years ago. I have written inon these voyages in past Temple of Nim newsletters and in our two Pyramids in the Pacific the Unwritten Historyof Australia [URU Publications 2000] and Pyramids of Destiny Lost Pacific Colonies of the Bronze-Age God-Kings [URU Publications 2009].

Where this pyramid is must remain a deadly secret, for the last thing we want to see is the vandalism of would-be treasure-hunters, religious fanatics and other assorted vandals of the kind that have lain waste to the now destroyedGympie pyramid, which I discovered back in 1975. And then there is also the media circus to consider, for shouldtelevision and newspaper journalists find this relic of our unknown history, they would not be able to stop themselvesfrom revealing the location to the world!

More will be reported by me on this important, fantastic discovery in the Temple of Nim newsletters, and itwill certainly be included in a future Gilroy book. Meanwhile these photos will suffice to reveal yet another relic of

Australias lost history of discovery and colonisation, by maritime peoples of the ancient world, long centuries beforethe advent of European exploration.-0-

THE ONGOING BLUE MOUNTAINSYOWIE MYSTERY.by Rex Gilroy

    Copyright Rex Gilroy 2010.

The Hairy Man or should we say Hairy People of the Blue Mountains, is a mystery as old as time, for its origins lie inthe traditions of the Aboriginal tribespeople who once roamed these wilds, long before the arrival of European settlersin the early 19th century.

There were other primitive Stone-Age inhabitants of Australia who were already long established when theearliest Aboriginal groups began arriving here from island southeast Asia by at least 50,000 years ago and these raceswould spread throughout Ice-Age Australia; tool-making, fire-making hominis, consisting of pygmy height throughaverage human to giant proportions. All would be given the overall title hairy people, not because they wereexcessively hairy [which they were not], but because of the animal hide hairy garments they wore, even though theAborigines manufactured the same crude hide garments.

Those interested can read more on the subject in the Gilroys book The Yowie Mystery Living Fossils from

the dreaming [URU Publications 2007].Extensive research by the Gilroys has separated three hominin forms, the traditional Hairy Man, a tool-

making, fire-making race of homo erectus features; a giant-size Great Hairy Man of around 3 metres tall whose hugestone megatools have been found Australia-wide as well as his fossil footprints, which are far larger than those ofHomo erectus and which match present-day footprints and a very primitive, perhaps somewhat hairier hominin than

his other relatives. All have been identified from fossil skull-types recovered over the years by the Gilroys and theirassistants as revealed in our book The Yowie Mystery.

There can be no doubt that the giant form of hominin in an oversize Homo erectus race as from comparativefeatures of skull-types and endocasts of both races. However, the average human height Homo erectus/Yowie appearsto be more numerous than his other relatives as far as sightings are concerned, particularly on the Blue Mountains withwhich this article is primarily concerned.

    *****

I have written this article to announce what is to me an exciting discovery, deep in the Wollemi Wilderness, butmore anon. The Homo erectus/Yowie continues to manufacture the same crude stone tools that his forebears have left in

early Pleistocene [Ice-Age] deposits going back 500,000 to 1 million and more years BP.On Saturday 22nd May 2010 while searching the Kanangra Boyd gum forests for evidence of the ancient Uru

megalithic race, together with field assistant Mihaela Hilla, I came across an apparent little used narrow bush trail, leading up a high escarpment and across the dense scrubby ridge we were working our way through.

At one point while working my way along this trail, half expecting it to have been a native animal path[wombats occur hereabouts], I spotted a lump of rock ahead of me on the ground. Picking it up I recognised it to be acrude [eolithic] chopping tool of granite, which I knew I could compare with other tools back home, tools of Homoerectus origin.

It was obvious by signs that this tool had lain on the ground for at least a few years, and I was reminded of

another found on a Yowie trail about 3 kilometres south of here in 2008.Yowies continue to be seen in the Kanangra wilds, as they are elsewhere across the Blue Mountains, yet findingtheir stone tools, particularly freshly-manufactured examples is even more exciting for me, as it is proof of theirpresence more than the hearsay of sightings claims that our Australian Yowie Research Centre [PO Box 202,Katoomba NSW 2780; Phone 02 47823441] regularly receives.

An excellent example of the above was recovered by myself and field assistant Mihaela Hilla, while exploringscrub south of Wentworth Falls on kings Tableland, on the afternoon of Saturday 5th June 2010. A quartz choppingtool, it had been crudely flaked around the edges. It was half of a quartz pebble that had been smashed in two, thisportion having been flaked around the sides to produce five good cutting edges. It was afterwards measured at 7.5cmtall by 6.5cm wide and 4cm deep.

While exploring the area of the find Mihaela and I both had the distinct feeling that we were not alone and thatour movements were being observed by someone. The kings tableland forests can be an eerie place in late afternoon

as night begins to approach, but then this is much the same elsewhere in the rugged, dense Blue Mountains forestlands.*****Over the past few years I have recovered numbers of recently, even few days old flaked stone tools, dropped

by roaming yowies out on Narrow Neck Plateau southwest of Katoomba, and know of a rock shelter where recently-manufactured tools still lie undisturbed by me. These finds, together with occasional discoveries of campsites left bythese relict hominins reveal their campfire remains, sometimes associated with flaked tools, are evidence to me that theHairy people continue to roam the interior of the Blue Mountains wilderness.

*****On Wednesday 9ath June, while Heather, myself and Brisbane [Qld] based assistant, Geoff Holland, were

exploring areas deep in the Wollemi wilderness east of Lithgow, I made an exciting discovery of past occupation by oneor two yowies.

The weather had turned cold and would soon become freezing with dark overcast clouds threatening snow

[which did no eventuate], as I explored off on my own deep into bushland while Heather and Geoff remained in thecar with the heater running. I was taking photos of scrub with my camera for our forthcoming book on the AustralianPanther and also keeping and eye out for fossils, for which this region is well known. Working my way through somerough stuff I spotted ahead of me, amid the trees, a crude shelter.

The shelter, open to the west, was just large enough to have held two people. Made of dead, dry saplings, treebranches and twigs, it would not have been made for winter use for it would certainly not have kept out the cold.

Near this shelter I discovered an old pile of fine ashes, partly obscured by overlying dead leaves and twigs, [Iwill add here that there was not sign of modern human camping, no old empty tins etc].

The weather was by now freezing and I began photographing the site. It was obvious to me that this shelterwas at least 3 to 5 years old.

I was about to leave and get back through the darkening forest to the warmth of our car, when I took one lastlook inside the shelter, to spot almost hidden by dead leaves and close to the south wall bases of the shelter, the only

lump of ironstone existing at this site, for I had not seen any other rocks in the vicinity of this old campsite even thecampfire was not surrounded by stones.Upon photographing the lump of ironstone in situ, I then removed it to find that it was a very crudely flaked

stone with a single sharp edge, but definitely a primitive eolith, or dawn tool of the kind still being made and discardedby wandering Yowie [ie Homo erectus] bands here in the Blue Mountains and elsewhere.

As the area hereabouts has been the scene of sightings of relict hominins in the past, even within the pastcouple of years, I am eager to return to this site in better weather to explore the surrounding forest for possible furtherevidence of more recent occupation. But the evidence of recently-manufactured tools being found throughout the BlueMountains wilderness regions, as well as actual recent or near recent occupation sites such as the Wollemi shelter, demonstrate that the Yowie, or Hairy Man still exists in these mountains as a living symbol of our primitive humanbeginnings.
