Parish Council Notes
The Parish Council met as usual in October and November. Meetings are now held in the rear lounge at the Village Hall to enable a hiring to take place in the main front Hall. Public and press are most welcome to attend—to access the meetings please come down the path to the right hand side of the building and this will take you into the rear lounge where meetings are now held. Cllr Ron Shepherd, who is the new Portfolio Holder at NELC for Safer and Stronger Communities was present at the November Council meeting to give an overview of the departments of the Council that he oversees. At the last two meetings, various planning applications were dis-cussed, and these are shown in the minutes of each meeting which are published on the Parish Council’s website. A new member was coopted in November, Mr. Ian Sears, who is welcomed onto the Council. There is still one vacancy on the Par-ish Council if any residents are interested. The recent Remembrance Day Service was very well attended and the members were pleased that so many people attended. Next year, the Parish Council is planning on a more formal ar-rangement and will let residents know the details during Summer and early Autumn of 2020. The Council will meet in December and then again in January 2020 to set its budget for the coming year of 20/21 and also the precept requirement for Stallingborough Village.

Thanks to everyone who came along on Sunday 10th November
to support and take part in the Remembrance Day event organ-
ised by the Parish Council for the Village.
Special thanks to those of you who wrote poems and made cross-
es. An example of one of the poems written by one of the chil-
dren is below….
‘Remember the War
The poppies are red
To show the blood of the people that died
Poppies shine like the Sun
The men risked their lives and they are kind
They saved our country
I think they are stars’
Thanks again to everyone for attending.

BONFIRES
Would all residents please be considerate
when lighting bonfires etc., especially now
that the lighter nights are with us. If you
could be mindful of others enjoying their
gardens, putting washing out and only light
bonfires when the winds are low and
they won’t inconvenience any near-
by neighbours.
Many thanks—The Parish Council

To the many friends we have in the village.I know that most of you are aware of the difficult health issues that Mary and I are faced with at the moment. My walking problem has worsened significantly recently and the Vascular Dementia with which Mary has been diagnosed has come as a huge shock. Fortunately we are being well supported by our family and some excellent carers. Nevertheless, I am the ‘24 hours a day person’ responsible for her overall welfare and I must confess, having previously read accounts of spouses in similar situations, I never appreciated what an exhausting role it would be. I am having to take unhap-py decisions one of which has been to give up my village commitments. Also I have decided not to send out Christ-mas Cards this year but donate this money to a charity dear to my heart. I am thus using this article in the Newsletter to wish all our village friends ‘A Very Happy Christmas and ‘A Good New Year’. I hope the some of the true message of the birth of Jesus; love, hope, charity and neighbourliness shine through the glare and glitter of the materialistic occa-sion Christmas has become.
Love and best wishes.
John and Mary Taylor.
If you would like to send a message to family and friends
Via this Newsletter then do let us know and we can run it
for you….. Please email us at

THE BARTON & CLEETHORPES COMMUNITY RAIL PARTNERSHIP (7)
Events The Santa Special Flyer is in this edition of the newsletter.
The event has been running successfully for some years now but this is the first time we have advertised it in the Stallingborough Newsletter.
A fun time is to had by all, so don’t miss out.
Sat 7th December, 10.15 at Stallingborough towards Cleethorpes, arriving back at 11.20.
News
There is good news and bad news in this edition.
The good news is that after December all Trans Pennine Express trains to and from Manchester Airport will call at Habrough. A spe-cific timetable with Stallingborough connections will be included in the next BCCRP article. Wi-Fi is available on TPE trains.
The bad news is that despite our stated aim of negotiating with the new train operator to ensure an improved service, at government level the Department of Transport intervened and insisted that the status quo should prevail.
In other words the “accessibility non compliant” one carriage trains will continue indefinitely having been given dispensation by the DfT.
To be fair to existing operator Northern, their strategy to improve much needed services across the entire region did not include the BC line, which in their view had been relinquished, as agreed before DfT intervention. We are stuck.

Parish Council Vacancy
There is one remaining casual vacancy on the Parish Council
and if this is something you might be interested in, do please
come along to one of our future meetings and see what work
the Parish Council gets involved in and how you could make a
difference to your village.
For an informal chat, please ring the Parish Clerk on 07494-
577661 and she will give you more information, otherwise do
come along to one of our next meetings.

JOB VACANCY
STALLINGBOROUGH VILLAGE HALL
The Parish Council is seeking to recruit Caretaking/
Cleaning staff for Stallingborough Village Hall to start
early January 2020.
The duties include opening and closing the Hall for hir-
ings and making sure the Hall is clean and ready for the
next hiring. The Parish Council is seeking to appoint
more than one member of staff so that hours each week
can be shared out. There is some flexibility required but
the majority of the hirings are regular hirings with the
same time slots and a monthly schedule is provided in
advance to the postholder to enable them to plan their
work schedule.
Hours are currently paid at £8.21 per hour. The post
carries a full permanent contract of employment, bank
holidays off and 4 weeks paid holiday per year after a
successful 12 week probation period.
Start date will be during January 2020 and interviews
will take place for the post in early January 2020.

Latest Update
Last week we had an interesting meeting at the Church with an Ar-chitect to look at making the Church more user friendly, exploring the prospect of installing a toilet and kitchen servery. This could make the Church available for other events and functions. This is the first step forward but there will be a lot of other meetings be-fore the decision can be made as to whether it is financially viable to proceed with such a project.
We wish you all Happy Christmas and Good Wishes for the New Year.

Hello Everyone I can’t believe that this will be the last newsletter of this year, where did 2019 go to?
On 19th September at our Harvest Supper 31 members and guests were entertained by Tony and John of ‘What no Amp?’ They sang all sorts of songs accompanying them-selves on their guitars and we joined in with some of the songs using the song sheets provided. It was a very enjoya-ble evening rounded off with an apple pie supper.
On Thursday 3rd October Alistair Scargall of Mushroom De-sign talked to us about his jewellery making. He makes nat-uralistic pieces all individually made and each one is sent to Sheffield to be assayed before he sells it. All the pieces were little works of art and several ladies bought items from him- I bought a spider brooch!
Our speaker for our November meeting should have been Sue Normandie talking about’100 years of Child Care’ but her home had been flooded during the torrential rain so she was unable to come. There was no time to organize another speaker so we had to spend the evening drinking tea, eating cake and talking, a real hardship!!
On November 10th , Remembrance Sunday, Jayne Saun-ders laid a wreath on behalf of W.I. at the War Memorial in the Community Garden.
At our meeting on December 5th we are going to be mak-ing small table decorations for Christmas. This will be fol-lowed by a faith supper.
