TOURISM: CAN THIS BE THE NEXT BIG THINGS FORINDIA?First What is tourism??When people travel from one place to another for recreation purposes then they are known as tourists. And the business of providing services to them is called tourism. The major importance of tourism is that it brings foreign money in our nation. When foreigners come to India they spend their currency or their currency converted in our rupee. It results in inflow of money which inturn increases employment opportunities. Increase in number of tourists eventually leads to number of service providers and when people start to earn through this industry it means employed is generated. When employmentincreases GDP also increasesGDP (gross domestic product) total income of the nation. High GDP is a sign of a developed nation. Now talking in the context of our nationtourism is defiantly the next big thing and there is no possibility of doubt in that. India is blessed with a huge pool of culture and natural diversity. There are basically two things that are required to boom an industry like tourism first one is natural diversity and the second one is service providers or tourist agents.Taking each of them separately and simultaneously. Natural diversity India has the largest natural diversity we can boast to have the largest number of terrains in the world. we have deserts of marusthal in the west to forest like sundarbans in the east, we have one of the highest peaks in the north to soothing beaches in the south. Our country India is known for its lavish treatment to all visitors. Visitors get attracted due to friendly traditions, varied life style, cultural heritage & Colourful festivals. The second most important thing which tourism industry requires to grow is tourism service providers or tourist agents in other words. These tourist agents help the tourist to see places with ease and comfort. If a large population is into this business then defiantly they would attract more number of people. As being the second largest population of the world we have the potential to grow.

A growing recognition of tourisms contribution to employment and economic growth, the availability of better infrastructure, focused marketing and promotion efforts, liberalization of air transport, the growth of online travel portals, growing intra- regional cooperation and more effective public private partnerships are seen as key drivers for tourism in the next decade.More than half of the Ministry of Tourisms Plan budget is channelized for funding the development of destinations, circuits, mega projects as well as rural tourism infrastructure projects.

There is a renewed focus on skill development in the travel and tourism sector 21 government-run hotel management and catering technology institutes and 14 food craft institutes have been established to impart specialized training in hoteliering and catering.

To give tourism industry significant boost government has launched online visa facility for 43 countries -, Nov 2014.

The launch of several branding and marketing initiatives by the Government of India such as Incredible India! and Athiti Devo Bhava provides a focused impetus to growth.

100% FDI is allowed under the automatic route in tourism and hospitality, subject to applicable regulations and laws.

100% FDI allowed in tourism construction projects, including the development of hotels, resorts and recreational facilities. Though both the important things which are required by tourism industry are present in India still tourism contributes only a minute percentage in our overall GDP (7%). Let us now look at the reasons as to why and how our potential industry is not at optimum level.

The issues which are preventing our tourism industry to grow are many.First and the fore most issue is the fear in tourists of getting physically abused. Re occurring incidents of rape ,kidnaps and various other atrocities again foreign touristswhich still now in 21stcenturary exits prevents foreigners from choosing India as their tourist destination. They see India as an unsafe land. This is the most important issue that India needs to take care of if it wishes to improve its number of incoming touristsThe second issue is ofunhygienic conditions and high pollution levels. It is a common experience of us all; we get to see garbage lying in tourists destinations which basically consists of plastic bottles and wrappers of eatables. It is a thing of common edicts to us to use the dustbin but many of us refrain from doing it in practical life. The third thing which also holds back many potential tourists islack of infrastructure. Our roads are filled with many pot holes which make our journey a bone shaking oneTourists destination lack basic infrastructure such as toilets and drinking water. Garbage bins here to remains an issue. Garbage bins are not available and even if they are they are at large distances. Due to lack of attendants at ticket and checking points he lines builds up which leads to people waiting. This all adds to the unhappy experiences which a tourist takes back with themIf all these issues are timely taken care of the tourist inflow would positively increase. Many things can be done as constructive measures to deal with above mentioned issues. First one is increasing the penalty or the severity of punishment. Second one is to increase infrastructure through PPP (public private partnership) model. Third one is to increase e governance to visa related issues and take bold initiatives such as visa on arrival for friendly nations.

Huge campaigns involving crores of rupees such asincredible Indiawould just not bring the desired result till these issues are tackled. India does not lack any thing as far as tourism is concerned if certain things are eradicated or improved it is pretty sure that it would take no time for India to snatch the number one spot in tourist destination worldwide.ConclusionIndias tourism industry is experiencing a strong period of growth, driven by the burgeoning Indian middle class, growth in high spending foreign tourists, and coordinated government campaigns to promote tourism in India.Indias governmental bodies have also made a significant impact in tourism by requiring that each and every state of India have a corporation to administer support issues related to tourism.Hence, we can say India is trying to grow its peripheral vision apart from various Industry to tourism Industry which also income generating and also being a part of those league of nation who have better tourism infrastructure.

The tourism can be local & foreign.
