Transformer ruggedized telemetry link (TRTL)

Device overviewEaton’s Transformer Ruggedized Telemetry Link (TRTL) is a centralized connection device that is specifically designed to combat harsh underground vault environments This smart design provides critical port protection for monitoring systems and gauges to last through weathering and corrosion It further alleviates complex wiring and routing systems, which can be extremely hazardous when working in network systems

There is no need for direct contact with any energized devices Eaton’s new TRTL device provides easy access for field personal, and even mounts directly to the transformer (via four magnets on the backside) with bolt-on provisions With plug-and-play installation, the TRTL communicates via Ethernet to the VaultGard and SCADA systems The device is fully submersible to meet all vault requirements and environments Since the TRTL does not require any exposure to energized equipment, it reduces potential arc flash concerns for users

Features include• 12 versatile input ports

• Plug-and-play with Eaton gauges

• Full connection to communication devices and gauges

• Magnetic or bolted mounting options

• Application directly to transformer surface

• Works with Eaton or 3rd-party gauges

Benefits• Non corrosive

• IP68 3rd-party certified

• Mount on transformer, no need to open protector door

• Multi-capable input ports

• Accept 12 versatile inputs

• No calibration required

• All gauges and relay communication connect locally to TRTL

• One Ethernet cable output per transformer

• Greatly reduce main enclosure penetrations

• Greatly reduces wire pulling labor and terminations

Flexible inputsThe TRTL is equipped with 12 individual inputs of which are flexible to accept varying types of gauges and sensors and designed to automatically detect what is connected to each specific input which eliminates the need to pre-configure each port

Eaton’s smart gauges (see pages 14-17) may be used at any of the 12 input ports

Specific inputs are dedicated for the use of third-party 4-20mA and 4-wire RTD sensors/gauges See Table 1 for more details
