Chairman’s Column

As Chairman of the Board of Directors, I have the responsibility andprivilege of installing the Elders, Deacons, Ministers, and Team Leaders for the year2013. As an independent Christian Church, our congregation governs how we

operate and elects these leaders each year to help carry out our mission ofpreaching and teaching the gospel and being the presence of Christ in ourcommunity. I am excited about the programs and events our various ministries areplanning this year! Progress reports on these activities plus an update on theSurvey Results and Soaring campaign will be presented at a Congregation Meetingscheduled for March 17, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. Until then, if you have any questions orconcerns, please feel free to talk to me. We have some enjoyable things happening in our adult

classes weekly! (Classes are listed in this bulletin!)

One upcoming activity is takingplace in Faithbuildersʼ Class.During January, class members,as well as any other interestedadults, are encouraged to signup to participate in small dinner

groups. Whether married or single, able to host a meal or

not, join this friendly group and get better tied into Chaparralthrough new friendships. Participants will be divided intogroups of 6-9, and the group will plan three meals duringFebruary, March and April. Join the class any Sunday at9:45 in the East Hall to take part in a happy communitywithin the larger congregation. Current study is the book ofPhilippians and Mary Cartwright is the teacher.

All followers of Christ are welcome to participate in our Service of

Communion. If you have prepared yourself for this very special moment with

our Savior, you are invited to his table. (1 Corinthians 11:23-30) Please take

the emblems as they are passed and partake when you are ready. Some

prefer to take it while it is in front of them before passing it along.

• Offering

In all of our services, a special time for giving is set aside. Participation is an

act of worship and voluntary.

• Nursery

We have a friendly, well-staffed and impeccably clean nursery located on

the north side of the narthex. Please see an usher for directions.
