USBands Quad State Field Marching Competition

Important Event Information USBands welcomes you to the 2018 USBands Quad State Field Marching Competition. Thank you for joining USBands and the University of South Dakota at the DakotaDome for this wonderful performance opportunity for your students!

The following information is provided to make your participation as easy as possible. Please read it carefully so you know what to expect when you arrive at the event. We encourage you to check www.usbands.org often between now and the competition for the latest information. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us at 610-821-0345.

Band Tickets:

Each band has been sent OPTIONAL tickets to sell at a discounted rate for this event, and assumes financial responsibility for each and every ticket.

Although there is no ticket sales requirement for this event, we hope you bring plenty of supporters to cheer on all of the performing students! When you arrive at the event, please be sure to return any unsold tickets at Registration.

You will be responsible for full payment of any tickets not returned at Registration on the day of the event.

There is no parking fee for this event.

Check-in/Registration: Please check in with the USBands Representative at Band Registration at the Flag Poles in front of the Dome immediately upon arrival. In addition to handling invoices and tickets, you will also receive last-minute information related to the event.

Restrooms: Restrooms will be available inside the Dome when you arrive. There may be some port-o-lets available in the parking lots.

Band Parking: At this location all of your band vehicles can park together in the Band Parking Lots. USD Parking Staff will direct your vehicles upon arrival.

Warm-Up: There are 2 warm-up areas available for warm-ups in the Large open fields to the north and east of the Dome. It is a 10 minute walk from band parking to the warm-up fields. Please plan accordingly.

Gate Time: Your band needs to be at the BAND ENTRANCE GATE (OVERHEAD DOOR) 15 minutes prior to your scheduled performance time. It is your responsibility to arrive at the gate at the appropriate time. It is approximately a 5-10 minute walk from the warm-up areas to the gate. If there are any significant changes in the event schedule, USBands representatives will contact you via cell phone with the latest information.

Field Surface: Synthetic Turf with NCAA Hash Marks sewn in. High School Hash Marks will be TAPED.

Awards Ceremony: Drum Majors and/or Band Representatives should assemble for the Awards presentation at the band entrance gate before the last band performs (see schedule).

Critique: Critique will be offered during the awards ceremony at this event. The Critique will be held on the Coyote Landing on the North Side of the Concourse starting during the awards ceremony. Band Directors and Staff should wait until they are called into rotation by the USBands Assistant Event Coordinator. The adjudicators will provide feedback about your band’s performance in the form of digital recordings via CompetitionSuite. To make the most of the critique, it is recommended that you listen to the commentary before entering your rotation if at all possible. Adjudication sheets will not be used at this event. Please notify a USBands staff member if you will be unable to stay for awards.

Audio/Video Recording: Due to copyright law, audio and video recording is strictly prohibited at USBands events. Thank you for your cooperation.

Souvenirs: Airgrams, Programs, band wearables by PepWear and other band related souvenirs will be available in the stadium during the event.

Concessions: Concessions will be available in the stadium during the event.

Rain plan: In the event of inclement weather, all directors should report to the Band Registration Area to meet with the USBands Representatives to discuss delay or cancellation scenarios.

Staff/Adult Access In To Stadium: You should have already received one USBands Director Badge and a specified number of USBands Staff badges for your instructors and adult chaperones/equipment handlers, etc. The number of passes assigned to you is based on the group size of the band (see Participant Guide).

Entry to the Stadium Following the Performance: Your band members are invited into the stadium to view the remainder of the event, free of charge. Entrance for band members in uniform, or in a group if out of uniform, is through the BAND ENTRANCE GATE. While in the stadium, the band members are to sit in groups, with appropriate supervision. Please remind your students to be respectful of other audience members, as well as the bands performing on the field.

Driving Directions: From US 50, turn south onto Dakota Street. Bus Parking is the second and third left off of Dakota Street.

Event Flow: Bands should unload at Bus Parking (A), walk to their equipment (C) while dropping off a representative at Band Registration/Check-In (G), proceed to a vacant Warm-Up Area (D or E), and finally enter the Dome for performance at the Band Entrance Gate (F).
