Congregational Dinner

The Wednesday Night Dinner and Bible Study will meet Wednesday

nights in April, 6 to 7:15 pm in the Nelson Room across from the kitch-

en. We will be continuing the study, Surprised By Hope: Rethinking

Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church, by N.T.

Wright. Dinner is provided for a suggested donation of $5.00 per person.

Everyone is invited.

Our Congregational Dinner is an enjoyable way to dine with old, new, and soon-to-be friends in the congregation. The next Congregational Dinner is on

April 9th. Guests are always welcome.

Please remember the members of your Pastor Nominating Committee

in your prayers as they begin their work: Mary Ellen Davis, Jack

Downie, Rob Hilton, Claudia Walton, and Blythe Wilcox. If you would

like to assist in the search or have thoughts or ideas about our next

pastor, please contact a Committee member.

Grocery Shopping List

2 cans of meat,

2 cans of fruit,

1 macaroni & cheese

or bag of rice,

1 can evaporated milk,

1 jar peanut butter,

2 cans vegetables,

2 cans soup,

1 lb. dry beans

or can baked beans,

1 pkg. powdered milk,

1 box dry soup,

1 jar jelly.

Our Loaves and Fishes project provides emergency food relief to families in our community each month. Our donations go to the Salvation Army and people in our community. The food from the shopping list of staples is an enormous help to the Salvation Army. It provides basic nutrition and does not have to be refrigerated.

Please take the list with you on your shopping trips and purchase items to feed hungry families. Your donations should be placed in the bins that line the hallway in the Educational Building. At the end of each month, the Witness and Service committee members will distribute the food to the local food banks.

We divide our congregation into groups called Shepherd Groups. Each month, a different group is chosen to lead the Loaves and Fishes food drive. This month, we call on the DAVID Group. This in no way means that if you aren't in the DAVID group you can’t provide food as well. No dona-tion will be turned away!

The families/individuals in the DAVID group are:

Andy Anderson

The Ronald Craft family

Mr. & Mrs. Jeff Darst

Mr.& Mrs. Wright Gres

The Reid McArthur family

Mr. & Mrs. Larry McDonald

Jamie Thompson

Mr. & Mrs. James Thompson

The Mount Vernon Baptist Church has invited our PYF to partner with them on a trip to Wild Adventures theme park in Valdosta, Georgia. They will spend the day in the park and then later that night enjoy a

concert by Christian artist Lecrae.

The Mt. Vernon Baptist church will provide transportation via their church van. The youth teams will leave on April 22, 2017 at 9:00am and because the concert ends late, arrive back around 12:30 – 1:00 in the

morning. Students will need to bring money the day of the trip for lunch and dinner.

The total ticket cost for 15 or more students is $33.17. Tickets need to be purchased one week in advance, so prior notification is needed by April 9, 2017.

Jansen Killian is attending this trip and she or Elizabeth Killian-Wilkes can provide more information or answer any questions.

Hope all PYFers make plans to attend the fun-filled youthtastic event!

By what other name(s) does the Bible

identify the disciple we call “Doubting

Thomas”?

Answer: E (See John 20:24, NIV and ESV.)

This image is known as the Angus Dei, Latin

for “Lamb of God.” When pictured standing and

with a banner, it represents the risen Christ,

victorious over death. John the Baptist, seeing

Jesus approach, famously declared, “Look, the

Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the

world!” (John 1:29, NIV). In Revelation, too,

Jesus is portrayed as a lamb who was slain but

now reigns triumphant.
