Welcome to St Gregory’s
Welcome to our school—the only Catholic Secondary school in Oxford, and the only all-through school in Oxfordshire. As a Catholic School, our faith is at the heart of school life, as we try to live out a Gospel of Love, uncompromis-ing in our efforts to raise aspiration and achieve-ment for all our students. St Gregory’s is a loving community where students get pastoral support from a dedicated team. Each day starts with prayer—either in assembly or tutor time—and we encourage students to take an active part in the faith life of our school, assisting at Masses and services, altar serving, leading prayers and sung worship.

Learn TogetherSt Gregory’s is a highly aspirational school, and we have many students each year getting 11, 12 or even 13 A* grades at GCSE. We were well above the national average for the new grade 9 A**, with 7% of students achieving this top grade in English. We are proud of our large and vibrant sixth form, which this year had the best Academic Progress score in Oxfordshire. Every year we have students who excel, and our students leave us to go to Oxford and Cambridge, and to study Medicine, Veterinary Sciences, or Dentistry, as well as a range of other challenging subjects at Russell Group Universities. We seek always to support and challenge all our students as they ap-proach their important public exams.

Live TogetherAt St Gregory the Great Catholic School we offer a diverse range of extra-curricular activities so there is something everyone can enjoy and achieve in. During break times, lunchtime and after school we run Sports Clubs of both a social and competitive nature. These change each term to coincide with seasonal activities, current and future fixtures. We also run music clubs, public speaking clubs, and many other activities tailored to pupils’ particular needs. We even have a minecraft club!

Care TogetherWe teach children both to look after the world, and to appreciate the world, St Gregory’s students use ‘Living Laudato Si’ as a motto to show how we try to care for our environment through lit-terpicking and sensible use of resources. We also foster charitable giving, campaigning to help the less fortunate in many different ways, such as through our ‘giftboxes’ advent calendar. In school, older students mentor younger ones, and school council guarantees that all have the opportunity to share their ideas. Our new ‘mediation stations’ at break and lunchtime ensure that there is always a friendly adult available to help with friendship issues or other problems.

Celebrate Together
Our greatest celebration is the Mass, with regular services throughout the year, culminating in our St Gregory’s Day Mass. However, we also encourage outings and trips that allow students to celebrate the exciting world around them. We have made many powerful international links over the years. We regularly host visits by teachers from our partner school in South Africa—Nelson Mandela’s old school!—and have also welcomed teachers and students from Germany to share in our studies. We are currently working on an inter-national music link, and planning school exchange visits to Europe.
