The quality on this camera was really good due to the lens we used. We used the Canon EF 75/300 mm lens as it would get good shots, especially when taking pictures. We used pictures in our promo to show the quality of the camera, especially when we used still images. In the promo, there are a few still images, including this one, where one of the members of the group took when filming at the Stockton Town Football Club. When using this lens, the focus of the whole picture is the ball and this lens ensures this by blurring out the background. The advantages of using the Canon EOS 1200D are that it has high resolution, meaning it produces high quality content. However, the disadvantages of using the Canon 1200D are that it isn’t good when it comes to recording sound as it doesn’t have a microphone socket. For any studio filming, we used the Canon EOS 600D, as this camera had a microphone socket. We still used this camera to take photographs and auto-focus (AF) was used with the sport setting on the camera because in this circumstance, the sport setting helps to take multiple photos when there is a specific object to focus on. And this type of shot is a mid-shot. This camera was one of the two cameras we used in the studio. This camera was the camera we used when filming the introduction and the ending for the promo as we needed to record me speaking about our production company. It was actual easier and better to use manual focus (MF) on the camera when filming in the studio as it is focusing on a still object which was a person presenting. We used a standard lens, which was the 18-55mm lens, just to get some simple shots when filming. We used settings such as Manual Exposure but in the future we would experiment with other settings.

Canon EOS 1200D/600D

We used this camera to film for the studio footage and our footage that we shot on location. However, the disadvantages of using the Canon 1200D are that it isn’t good when it comes to recording sound as it doesn’t

have a microphone socket. And this type of shot is a mid-

shot.

Tripod

We used a Tripod in all of the filming process, as this would keep the camera secure and the footage made wouldn’t be so shaky as if you were to just hold the camera in your hand. We used different camera angles in the promo as this would make it look more interesting. We were able to adjust the height of the tripod so we good get some good shots of the Infinity Bridge and at the Stockton Town Football Club. A tripod will reduce camera movement and improves picture quality. It will allow you to pan smoothly making filming more professional. We used the tripod to pan across some scenery when we were filming on location. This helped us get some cinematics as well as some still shots. In the future, we would maybe use some smaller tripods such as a gorilla pod, this can help get good close ups and easier to handle.

Sound Equipment- (Boom pole, NTG2 Dual Powered Directional Condenser Microphone, Handy Recorder, Clapper Board)

Since not many people in our group were experienced with the equipment that was provided, we did some trail runs. We filmed some interview shots with some sound equipment such as the NTG2 Dual Powered Directional Condenser Microphone with the Boom pole and the Handy Recorder. The Handy Recorder is clipped onto the camera, while someone is holding the Boom pole with the NTG2 Dual Powered Directional Condenser Microphone. We had someone hold the Boom pole with the microphone over the people in the video frame. We had to make sure that the Boom pole and the microphone weren’t in shot as this wouldn’t look professional. We had to try and get the microphone as close to the subject as possible, without it being in shot. We also used a clapper board as this would be an advantage in editing as this would leave a spike in the editing process so we knew where to edit and alter footage. Once we had filmed the interview shots, we went back to listen to the audio and we decided that we didn’t want to put the interview shots in the promo as we thought that we already had was enough. But now we know how to use the sound equipment, we would try and use this equipment in future productions.

Camera Track Slider (Dolly)

We did get some practise with this piece of equipment as this would give a good effect when it came to filming. We did use it in the interview shots and we started off with filming from the start of the track. As the people in the frame talked, the camera operator (this would have been anyone in the group) would move the camera across the track which would still keep the people in shot, it would glide towards them. In the filming industry, a camera track is used when the camera needs to do any movement while filming. The track came too far into production so there wasn’t any time to reshoot. However, in the future we will try to use this piece of equipment.

Mobile Phone

We used a mobile phone while filming on location due to the fact that we didn’t bring an additional camera. We used the mobile phone to film the person filming the actual scene that was going to be included in the promo. We used an IPhone 6 to film this footage. Even though the quality isn’t as good as the Canon 1200D, it did the job and this shows our production company can make do with what we have got.
