Description:This is a yer for a Graduate Leadership Conference. We were given the text andthe graphics to use.

    Date:10/4/14

    Course/Instructor:Comm 130 Section 11Emily Kunz

    Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:Learn to manage Photoshop layers.Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks.Use lters.Apply appropriate typography.

Process:I started off by cropping the background image to 8.511. I selected theconductor and moved him to the background image, then I added a mask. With black paint and a 100% opacity, soft-edged brush, I painted away the hardimage edges. With a larger black brush at 30% opacity and 30% ow, I blended the imageinto the background, so it looks like he is melting into the secene. I repeatedthe process with the train ticket, but I did not lasso the ticket rst. I just draggedthe entire image to the background image and started masking it until it was agradual blend. I nally added some type with two contrasting fonts and I addeda layer style (soft, black shadow) to make the text more legible.

Objectives:Create a variety of logos to t a company or personalimage. Use the basic tools of Illustrator.

Process:This was an interesting project. For the rst logo, Icreated a square with the rounded rectangle tool. I alsopulled a clip art picture of a shoe and traced it using thepen tool. I created the strap and buckle on the shoe andthe heel also using the rectangle and ellipse tool. I usedtwo different fonts on all but the middle logo. I used thetext wrap on the center logo to wrap the text around theshoe. I created the ower on the third logo using the

    ellipse tool also.

After I created the logo, Iinserted the logo into a new In Design document. For my letterhead, I placed the logo in the top right corner.I then placed a text box next to the logo and typed mycontact information it and positioned it on the right handside of the letterhead. Process:I used Adobe In Design, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop. The bottlesof lotion originally had a lotion logo across the front but I removed itusing the stamp tool. I used the quick selection tool on the bowl ofcream, but seem to be missing a step as I did not get the backgroundout of the picture when I saved it. I used the re ne mask to sharpen theedges, but because I missed this important step somewhere, I could notget my text to wrap. I created the logo in Illustrator and designed theoval around it to look like a bar of soap. I kept the colors all cool, calmingand soothing to go with the theme of the company. I inserted a gold baron the inside under the rosemary sprig to bring some more color to thebrochure and have a de ning line above the text. I placed everything inInDesign and brought the elements all together.

Objectives:Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic ier layout.Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesigndocument to keep links intact.

Process:For my process, I used In Design Creative Cloud. I have beenfortunate enough to have some experience working withAdobe Software at my current job, but am hoping to expandbeyond the basics. After I formulated the plan for the yerby drawing out sketches, I used the text and graphics that Iwas given, and organized it into the current layout. I madea few changes from my initial design after some critiquesand simpli ed it somewhat. The critiques were very usefuland for the most part, everyone had similar opinions. I usedrepetition in the squares that I placed at the top and bottomand kept the context as aligned as possible. I made sure thatthe graphics were not out of proportion.

Process:I designed this page using NotePad++. I have made web pages before, but not from the back side using code. It was interesting. I used the

pre-designed CSS le and connected it to my HTML le. After editingmy logo in Adobe Illustrator, I gured out the colors by using the eyedropper tool. I used the HTML validator to check my codes. I think thatthis part was dif cult to gure out what codes they wanted changed andwhy.
