• Upon their retreat to their barracks, the sultan’s cavalry

fired 15 volleys into the barracks, killing over 4,000 Janissaries.

• Survivors were executed or banished, and two years

later Mahmud II confiscated the last Janissary possessions & beheaded the remaining Janissaries.
