Billboard was founded in Cincinnati on November 1, 1894, by William H. Donaldson and James Hennegan. Originally titled Billboard Advertising it was a trade paper for the bill posting industry, hence the magazine's name. Billboard magazine is published weekly and the first issue was published in 1894. Published by the American entertainment publishing company Prometheus Global Media, it attracts more than 4 million visitors each month in more than 100 countries. Billboard.com's readers rely on the site for music news, videos, charts and more. magazine is of a high price at£5.50 in the UK, however this high price maybe due to the magazine been imported from the U.S. and quality features. Within a few years of its founding, it began to carry news of outdoor amusements, a major consumer of billboard space. Eventually Billboard became the paper of record for circuses, carnivals, amusement, parks, fairs vaudeville, minstrels, whale shows and other live entertainment. Billboard is an American music magazine, headquartered in New York City, New York and owned by Prometheus Global Media. It was first published on November 1, 1894, and is distinguished as being among the oldest trade magazines in the world. The magazine originally focused on bill postingand outdoor amusements before specializing in the music industry in the 1960s. In 2008 achieved a circulation of 18,385. The target audience of "Billboard is primarily the U.S. Billboard is a chart magazine covering all genres, artists and albums in the chart, this shows that there is a wide range of target audience that are in to the main stream side of music, and I believe this will help me know the difference of uncharted/underground music and charted music in my music magazine based around Hip-Hop/R&B. Billboard magazine started in the US but also sold in the UK. Teens, young adults are its main target audience as it mainly includes new music.
