ethologist , andanthropologist - . She is best known for
her study of chimpanzee social and family life in
Gombe Stream National Park for 45 years, and for foun
ding the Jane Goodall Institute.

Leakey’s Angels• One of Louis's greatest
legacies stems from his role in fostering field
research of primates in their natural habitats,
which he understood as ke y to unraveling the mysteri
es of human evolution. He personally chose three fem
ale researchers, Jane Good all, Dian Fossey, and Birute
Galdikas, who were later du bbed 'Leakey's Angels' and each went on to become im
portant scholars in the field of primatology.
