BGSUs eCampus launched Fall 2015
eCampus offers 8-week courses in a select # of online programs designed for working adults.
eCampus also provides one-stop-stop concierge services to online adult learners.
Some of the eCampus programs are in the Air University Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative which guarantees servicemembers with a CCAF associate degree the ability to complete a bachelor degree at BGSU 100% online in 60 hours or less.

Joshua Falso - USAF
Id like to Just take a minute to introduce you to one of those students Joshua Falso. He sent us this video while he was stationed in Iraq on Active Duty and still attending classes at BGSU online. A sand storm just happened to occur during the time Joshua had scheduled the video.

So, these are the students we are trying to help adult, post-traditional students that need online options and need one-stop-shop assistance to navigate the university processes. 4

One of these processes is the in-take process.
this visual represents the in-take process for undergraduate online students before eCampus was created..
As you can see, many of the tasks that needed to be taken care of was up to the student. There wasnt a direct path for the student or staff to follow, resulting in a duplication of efforts by faculty and staff and multiple degree audit updates not to mention the student was responsible for navigating a system that we not well defined.
Students wanted information quickly but this process took a long time sometimes as long as a couple of months! The students were viewing the transfer information as a criteria to select an institution, but BGSU wasnt viewing the process as a recruitment tool. Consequently, some students wouldnt wait.

eCampus and Non-traditional and Military Students services put their heads together to solve this probem. The plan was to create a new process for eCampus students that would still abide by system processes in place but would better accommodate the ecampus student. Then we set out to collaborate with advising, business operations, and the faculty/staff of the colleges involved. 6

Since eCampus was designed to be a one-stop-shop, it was the interface between students and other offices so it was the ideal place to try to facilitate a new in-take process. 8

This!
We added a Preliminary Completion plan into the process which allows us to identify direct transfer credits, as well as potential substitutions , appeals, or prior learning credit that will take more time to determine,. This allows us to register the student more quickly and yet avoid them from taking courses they may not need.
The prior learning assessment in our process is completed by our Nontratidional and military student services office which wasnt previously part of a process so students could receive proper credit for prior learning that wasnt so obvious.
Since the student is registered, that gives us more time to complete the full transfer credit and prior learning review before providing a final completion plan and degree audit. 10

By doing this, students have quick access to information they want but also gives the university some time to complete tasks that can be rather time consuming. Students get a clear plan to graduation while decreasing duplication of efforts for university staff as well as decreasing advising time.
eCampus has grown from 9 to 22 programs in two years and has doubled new enrollment in their programs.11
