Genre

For my magazine I intend to base it upon the style of Billboard magazine with a dance/R&B genre. The magazine has a target audience from the age of 16 – 20 and all the sell lines on the cover relate to that audience.

The use of multiple relevant artists on the cover of each magazine making the audience interested.

Music magazines of the genre Dance/R&B aren’t usually very expensive as they are aimed at a younger age group and therefore the prices range around the prices from £1-£3.

Beyonce has been featured in this magazine multiple times, In this issue she is the main feature in the magazine as “Woman of the year” this shows how her success is important to the audience of this magazine and interests them.

In my magazine I want to have a special feature to the issue to interest my target audience.

R&B music is usually understood to be commercially recorded music, often oriented toward a youth market, usually consisting of relatively short, simple songs and producing new variations on existing themes.

This music is generally in the charts and therefore listened to widely.

Dance music is generally represented with bright bold colours implying fun and entertainment this appeals to the audience as they expect to read the magazine and be interested and amused by what is inside.

Usually consists of interviews with current artists that are of the genre to suit audience. Also gossip is often on the sell lines on the cover appealing the audience to interesting news that will be inside.
