DESCRIPTION

What is Polaris (Laser+RF)? The Polaris WR System is intended to treat wrinkles and improve skin color evenness. How does it work? The system technology is a combination of optical (laser) energy and conducted radio frequency (RF). Both of these energies supplement each other to provide epidermal and dermal thermolysis at controlled depth. The System provides individual adjustment of RF energy and LASER energy to achieve maximum efficiency and safety for each patient. Is it safe? The system provides better safety and comfort while minimizing possible side effects, using a contact cooling mechanism in the applicator and “on-line” energy monitoring of the tissue during treatment. What are the preparations before the treatment? Listen to treatment arrangement, typical treatment results and possible adverse effects and discomfort given by your physician Follow the safety warning instructions from your physician What are the after treatment care? It is recommended that a cold pack be applied to the treated area immediately after treatment. During the first five days following the treatment, care should be taken to prevent trauma to the treated area. In addition you should avoid hot baths, massages, exercising, etc. You will be advised to use high factor sunscreen and protect the treated area from sunlight for at least one month after the treatment. Tanning after treatment may cause hyperpigmentation. Follow-up You should return 4-8 weeks after the treatment for evaluation of the treatment site. Interval between treatments should be longer than two weeks. If no results were observed and adverse effects noticed, then treatment should be stopped. Treatment should be stopped when you or your physician are satisfied with the results.

• Electrode design allows high energy delivery to a depth of 2.5mm

• Light energy is absorbed by micro-vascularities creating heat which focuses the RF at the center of the target tissue

WR mechanism of collagen WR mechanism of collagen remodeling - preremodeling - pre

• Collagen is normally densely packed and relatively inactive in mature skin.

• Interfibrillar spacing this compact limits blood supply to the area inhibiting the formation of new fibres

Page 10: Dr Patrick Treacy discusses the Syneron Polaris RF Laser

WR mechanism of collagen WR mechanism of collagen remodelling – immediately postremodelling – immediately post

• The WR treatment creates a deep oedema. This swelling allows lymphatic and vascular drainage in the dermis.

• Intrafibrillar spacing is increased .• Fibres are separated and oriented chaotically• Oedema and erythema appear on the skin surface

WR mechanism of collagen WR mechanism of collagen remodelling – remodelling – 3 weeks post treatment3 weeks post treatment

• After oedema has resolved, the collagen maintains the intrafibrillar spacing.• Collagen neogenesis stimulated by WR treatment fills the spaces with new fibres,

resulting in dermal remodelling.• Seen clinically as “tightening” and deep wrinkle reduction.

Polaris LV – working principlesPolaris LV – working principles

1. Place probe on skin over vessel.

2. Light is selectively absorbed by blood.

3. RF goes through the pre-heated vessel

4. RF and light combination creates coagulation of vessel wall
