Coaching definition

Origin of coaching

The word coaching is believed to originate from an

old Anglo-Saxon word for a carriage, that is,

something that takes you from where you are now

to where you want to be. Coaching is therefore

used as a vehicle to take an individual from where

they are now to where they want to be.

Mentoring involves primarily

listening with empathy,

sharing experience (usually

mutually), professional

friendship, developing

insight through reflection,

being a sounding board,
