Portfolio UI/UX DESIGN Rip Curl Live Events (LIVE STREAMING OF SURFING EVENTS) iOSAPP/UI&UXDESIGN / 2011-2014 CLIENT: Rip Curl Available: Android, iPhone Every year, Rip Curl organises various surfing events around the world as part of the PRO tour. I have worked with Rip Curl and initially thought they needed an app for the Bells Beach event where we could stream the live coverage via an iPhone. When the app gained popularity, I pitched the idea of a complete events app with all their events, including Peniche in Portugal, San Francisco, Bali etc. The app is powered by XML feeds, the rich media push is handled by Urban Airship in California where I formed a good commercial relationship with them. The app has been very successful on the AppStore and the design was updated for iOS7 which provided a smooth transition for users. PROBLEMS SOLVED We needed to provide event feeds via the ASP and content from BeachBytes. The difficulties with video through iPhones includes bandwidth charges and mobile phone coverage at the beach where the event is held. Also, there needs to be 2 video streams, one high and one low quality.

PortfolioUI DESIGNResource Rate CalculatoriOSAPP/UI&UXDESIGN / 2011CLIENT: Trinity P3Available: Android, iPhone, Microsoft Windows, iPad

This was the world’s first agency remuneration business mobile app available for iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows. The Resource Rate Calculator is a free industry calculator designed to calculate resource rates such as head hour rates, annual salaries, overhead & profit markup and annual billable hours.

The Resource Rate Calculator consists of four calculators in one:1. Overhead Cost and Profit Multiples – this calculates the factors that one must multiply the direct salary cost by to cover the business overhead and profit

2. Annual Billable Hours – This calculates how many billable hours there are in a year, after annual leave, public holidays and sick-leave

3. Annual Salary – based on the hourly rate, what is the person’s annual salary

4. Head Hourly rate – this converts annual salary to hourly rate.

Back in 2009 when iPhone 3G had the largest marketshare, we made this ‘branded entertainment’ app for Rip Curl. It was the first of its kind and is still groundbreaking in many ways. All the design elements from the control panels, the User Interface, the buttons and backgrounds were all designed to make this game unlike anything else on the AppStore. I lead the team and managed the project. The app was ranked #1 most popular sports game and is still the most popular surfing game.

HD LashesiOSAPP/UI&UXDESIGN / 2012CLIENT: Helen DowsleyAvailable: iPhone/iPad Universal App

HD Lashes wanted to launch their new eyelashes range via their website. I thought it made sense to ‘try before you buy’ with an 99 cent app. Simply take a photo of yourself, use your gallery or simply use a model.

Then use the app to see how you look with different eyelashes...obviously this app is designed for women. Adjust to the correct levels, change the curve and proceed to a photo of yourself with the eyelashes to share via social media. If you like them, you can directly buy them directly from the app and they will be delivered within 7 days.

I thought this idea was a winner. It was a simple idea, something worth paying 99 cents for and has not been done before.

YouLyst is a social commerce or a classified search engine combined with a social networkto makeone’s life easier, faster and better.Search in more than 1,000,000 at one place.

PROBLEMS SOLVEDThis was a project that the client has been working on for 5 years and involved wireframing and project managing. I spent 4 months and finished all the components, buttons, designs, layouts and the 250 webpages. At the beginning, this project was unorganised and uncoordinated. Whilst there, I managed to streamlined the project and made it more efficient. The site has since grown rapidly and the founders have had some great success.

Uniden Crash CamiOSAPP & Android/UI&UXDESIGN / 2014CLIENT: UnidenAvailable: iPhone & Android

This was a new app that can turn one’s windscreen-mounted iPhone or Android smartphone into a crash cam to capture any on-road incidents.

I helped conceive this idea and added much value through five years of mobile UI experience. I wanted to keep it simple, yet extremely versitile. This required a lot of testing and strategy behind the layout and functionality.

Instead of buying a dedicated camera, the Crash Cam app can utilise the camera and processing power of a smartphone to record anything that happens on the road.

The app has a built-in G-Sensor that can trigger recording instantly when it senses any sudden changes in motion.

PortfolioUI/UX DESIGN for Australian Government

I designed all of the elements including buttons, icons, menus etc. I chose the coloured circles a) to give colour to a very text heavy app and b) to unite the job seeker with the employer and the supervisor etc.

My role was to design this app to be easy to use for Job Seekers to navigate and log progress. I was the sole designer on this app and worked with a team of 13 developers, testers and team leaders.

Career Quiz for iOSUI&UXDESIGN / 2014CLIENT: Australian Government

PortfolioUI/UX DESIGN for Australian Government

This is currently ‘work in progress’ so may vary slightly to the final version launching in December 2014.

This was a simple quiz used on the Government website which proved to be very popular. I suggested we make it into a seperate app where anyone can answer 15 questions which will determine their skills and jobs which might be of interest. The quiz should only take a few minutes and can also offer extra support for people finishing school, University etc.

Job Seeker and Employer App for iOSUI&UXDESIGN / 2014CLIENT: Australian Government

PortfolioUI/UX DESIGN for Australian Government

This project was a very big improvement on design from what they currently had. It needed to be cleaned up with myself using my knowledge of User Experience to strip things back and use functionality to showcase the high priority components.

Two different styles to present to the team leaders.
