Definition: ◦ The Process by which moisture in the air changes to

liquid or solid form (“The water cycle,” 1995). Ex: Rain clouds

There are 3 different types of Condensation

Page 4: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

Orographic ◦ Air cools as it rises over high ground

Covectional◦ Air rises when warmed from below

Frontal ◦ Warm air rises over cold air

◦ (“The water cycle,” 1998).

Page 5: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

Condensation is the moisture in the air that changes to a:b.Solidc.Liquidd.Gase.Either A or B

ANSWER

Page 6: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

Definition:◦ Any form of water that falls to the Earth’s surface

(“The water cycle,” 1995).

There are 4 main types of Precipitation◦ Rain, Snow, Sleet, & Hail

Page 7: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

Rain◦ Water falling in separate drops

Snow◦ Frozen water that falls in flakes

Sleet◦ Rain containing some ice

Hail◦ Ice that falls in small chunks or balls

Page 8: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

Sleet is:b.Frozen water that falls in flakesc.Water that falls in dropletsd.Ice that falls in small chunks or ballse.Rain containing some ice

ANSWER

Definition:◦ Water falls back into the Earth and is COLLECTED &

restarts the water cycle (“The water cycle,” 1998).

Collection can be done in various ways

Page 10: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

Precipitation can be collected on land or in bodies of water.

On Land:◦ The water either soaks in the ground for plants to

absorb or can run-off into bodies of water In Water:◦ If the water lands in the water it will eventually

evaporate and start the cycle all over again

(“Understanding our earth’s,” 2005).

Page 11: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

TRUE OR FALSE?If the precipitation falls into a body of water then the cycle stops.

ANSWER

Page 12: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

Definition◦ Vapor or steam is put back into the air after the sun

heats up the bodies of water (“The water cycle,” 1995).

FUN FACT: Plants also transpire which sends more vapor into the air

Page 13: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

Water Vapor◦ Water that is in a gas state that is below boiling

temperature Steam◦ Water that is vaporized and is hotter than it’s

boiling temperature Boiling Water◦ Water that is put on a stove will bubble and when it

is hot enough it will begin to evaporate quickly

◦ (“The water cycle,” 1995).

Page 14: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

Which type of Evaporation evaporates the quickest?b.Steamc.Boilingd.Vapore.All are the same

ANSWER

Page 15: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

D. Condensation can return to the cloud and be held as rain or snow.

Page 16: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

D. Sleet is rain containing some ice, if it were all ice it would be considered hail.

Page 17: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

FALSE. If it lands in a body of water then eventually the water will evaporate and continue the water cycle.

Page 18: W200 PowerPoint Presentation

B. Boiling water is at it’s hottest temperature and therefore travels the fastest during evaporation.

While working on this project I discovered new mechanics of PowerPoint that I never knew existed. I’ve been using this as a tool for projects and presentations for years. Yet, I never knew how to use the non-linear version. Three new things I discovered while doing this project:2.How to create custom color theme

I used the design tab and made new colors for my slides3.How to navigate using a non-linear presentation

I watched the tutorials and learned to navigate4.Evaporation moves more quickly the warmer the water is.

As simple as that concept is, I never really thought about it before. It’s a good fact to know as a studying teacher.

I chose the topic of The Water Cycle because I’m studying to become an Elementary teacher. I specifically remember in 2nd grade learning about the different types of clouds and some precipitation. We made wheels to learn the different aspects of the cycle. I thought it would be neat to have a virtual tool.
