- A street and graffiti artist from Malaysia in Melbourne

- elements of pop culture, people and energy into his

graffiti work

THE HAND WITH APPLE

• a hand attempting to grab an apple from the tree. It shows how nature is facing limited resources.

• human is still taking advantage of the nature despite knowing that we are harming the nature

• a border between the plants and the hand grabbing the apple

EPC CONCEPTS 1 – Non-verbal Communication ( Hand Gestures ) It shows that the human hand is attempting to reach

out to pick the apple. It is non verbal because it is communicating through

hand gestures and there is no need for words or audio.

2 – Public Communication This mural art allows people to stand outside the

border of the art to take a picture. Also, the art itself is trying to deliver a message to the

public.

3 – Passive Perception The mural art shows that due to greed, human tend to

go the extra miles to obtain what they want. As shown in the art, a human hand is trying to reach out to the apple that shows human has the urge to destroy the nature because of our wants and needs.

4 – Connotation The apple on the tree will soon be plucked by the

human hand that is shown reaching towards the tree.

5 – Selective Attention People tend to get attracted to the mural art as the

apple is situated outside the border of the art. People are attracted and tend to glance at it or take photos with it.

- Was an employee of a Japanese studio- a 3D Animation artist

Saving Fire - shows that a girl is being trapped on the second floor of a building, calling out for help because there is a fire.

- a boy noticing the girl being trapped on the second floor, and is pointing out at her.

- a real fire hose reel with fire extinguishers and a fire alarm.

- the drawn fire hose is aiming at the fire on the second floor connected to the real fire extinguisher.

EPC CONCEPTS1 – Non-Verbal Communication The artwork shows the fear expression on both the

girl and the boy as they are trapped in the fire. There is no need for words to describe that the

situation is panicky as the girl is calling out for help.

2 – Public Communication The real fire reel and the alarm beside the artwork

is telling people to be a good Samaritan and help put out the fire that is slowly spreading throughout the building.

3 – Selective Attention The attention is on the girl who is in trouble getting

caught in the building. The attention is focused on the girl as she is calling out for help.

People are also attracted because the fire hose is drawn connected to the real fire extinguisher.

4 – Stereotype People are more likely to be saving the girl first.

5 – Space There is a fixed space and distance between the boy

and the girl. The girl is trying to call out for help. The boy heard

her and is trying to reach out to her.

- His artwork is a reflection of the environment directly or indirectly based on his experiences, thoughts & feelings

- The expression of his works in the form of storytelling on the environment, culture, local or global issue

- Learned from folktales, proverbs and old Malay quatrains

Selling Drink Uncle

- An old uncle selling drinks and food

- Malaysian culture

- Street food is a part of the culture

- Uncle is happy when people approach him to buy

- From the artist’s personal experience, there are a lot of roadside food stalls

- Reflects the Malaysian culture though it is illegal

EPC CONCEPTS1 – Public Communication This mural art allows people to stand

outside to interact with the mural art.

It tells people how when customers approach the drink selling uncle, the uncle becomes happy.

2 – Non-verbal CommunicationThe uncle’s expression shows that

he is happy selling his food and drink by the roadside.

He gets happy whenever anyone wants to buy food from him.

3 – First Impression a selling uncle will develop first impression on his

customers customers also will develop first impression on the

uncle influenced by how the uncle treats the customers

4 – Face to Face Communication involves talking to each other in real life with body movements and hand gestures facial expressions

5 – Body Posture his body posture, movements and gesture shows that

he is selling something preparing drinks

- An uncle who is driving a motorcycle with lots of buns and snacks hang onto it

- Selling snacks by driving the motorcycle around the neighborhood

- In malaysia, food vendors on motorcycle are friendly

- Food is always cheap and fresh

- This again, reflects the artist’s personal experience as he used to buy food from the roti uncle when he was younger

- nowadays, the artist can no longer find the roti uncle around anymore

EPC CONCEPTS 1 – Public Communication allows people to stand outside the art to

interact with it people how food vendors can sell food using

their motorcycle in Malaysia

2 – Selective Attention tend to stand at the coin there because it shows

interaction between the uncle and the people People get attracted to this art because it

shows how some people experienced this before by buying food from the uncle in the past.

3 – Non Verbal Communication the uncle portrays a happy expression when

people approach him to buy food from him. happy as he gets to earn a little extra.

4 – Face to Face Communication it is of face to face communication whereby

the roti uncle is directly talking to his customers instead of through medias

the roti uncle is shown to be speaking to his customer, showing a happy expression by smiling

5 – First Impression usually a business situation involves a first

impression when one person encounters another person and forms a mental image of that person

the roti uncle would have a lot of first impressions of all his customers that buy roti from him
